Job Description
Outagamie County is a government entity dedicated to providing essential community services and enhancing the quality of life for its residents, with a special focus on senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. The county offers a wide range of programs designed to support the well-being, health, and independence of older adults, ensuring they have access to nutrition, social activities, and healthcare resources. One of the key initiatives managed by the county is the Nutrition Program, which encompasses both Congregate meal services and Home Delivered meal delivery to persons aged 60 and above. Known for its commitment to community welfare, Outagamie County provides its Nutrition Program through a collaborative effort involving staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders who share a passion for serving the elderly population and those with special needs. The county prides itself on fostering a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive work environment where diversity is valued, and every employee contributes to making a meaningful social impact.
The position of Mealsite Manager is part-time and hourly, operating Monday through Thursday from approximately 10 AM to 1:30 PM. This role is multifaceted and holds a vital place within the Nutrition Program. The Mealsite Manager is responsible for supervising the operation of both Congregate meal services, where older adults come to enjoy nutritious meals in a social setting, and Home Delivered meal services, which bring meals directly to homebound seniors and disabled individuals. This leadership role requires a combination of strong customer service abilities, volunteer coordination, and strict adherence to state and federal regulations governing nutrition programs for older adults.
This position is ideal for someone who is community-oriented, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrates a passion for working with seniors and disabled persons. The Mealsite Manager must be adaptable to change, able to multitask efficiently, and operate independently with sound judgment. Responsibilities include managing volunteer teams who assist in meal distribution, maintaining accurate and timely documentation, overseeing meal reservations and cancellations, and serving as a key communicator regarding program updates and participant needs.
The Mealsite Manager also plans and facilitates programs at the meal site that focus on nutrition education, health, wellness, recreation, and social engagement, enriching the lives of program participants beyond the meal services. There is a strong emphasis on collaboration with the Nutrition Program Supervisor to ensure smooth operation of services, resolve conflicts, and continuously improve program quality. Additionally, the role may involve conducting in-home assessments to determine eligibility for the Home Delivered meal service, managing the logistics of meal transportation, and representing the program in mandatory meetings and trainings.
A passion for serving older adults, strong communication skills both verbal and written, ability to work independently and as part of a team, knowledge of community resources, and the physical capability to perform light lifting are essential attributes for the Mealsite Manager. Outagamie County is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, making this position accessible to a diverse range of qualified candidates. This opportunity offers the chance to be part of a meaningful public service program that directly impacts the health and well-being of vulnerable county residents.
