The position of Applebee's Assistant Manager offers a critical role within the daily operations of the restaurant. As an Assistant Manager, you will be deeply involved in all facets of the restaurant’s daily workflow, from guest service excellence to staff supervision and problem solving. You will be responsible for creating an atmosphere where both guests and employees are passionate about their experience and performance. This role requires a strong leader who can handle stress effectively, think critically in fast-paced environments, and serve as a role model for fellow team members.

As an Assistant Manager, you will ensure that all services are delivered in a timely and friendly manner that aligns with company standards and objectives. Handling guest complaints with immediacy and grace is another crucial responsibility, as is maintaining frequent guest contact by completing required table visits according to company standards. Additionally, you will manage departmental inventory, oversee product preparation and presentation to meet uncompromising company quality standards, and optimize employee scheduling to meet sales demands efficiently.

Your role will also involve maintaining safety and security protocols, leading efforts to organize, clean, and sanitize the restaurant to meet or exceed health department and company sanitation standards. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks and promptly reporting issues to higher management. Recruitment and training are vital elements of this role, where you will actively promote quality recruitment and referrals and implement company-designed training procedures to maintain a well-trained staff. Through regular performance assessments, feedback, and documentation, you will contribute to the continuous development and success of the team.

The Assistant Manager will also ensure compliance with company policies, local and federal laws, and oversee cost control measures within assigned departments. Participation in inventory counts, preparation of accurate daily paperwork, and mastering store-related technology are necessary parts of the role. Flexibility is key, as you must be willing and able to work in all positions within the restaurant, including cooking, bartending, seating guests, or any other team member role as needed.
