Job Description
Flynn Group, founded by Greg Flynn, began its journey in 1999 with the acquisition of eight Applebee's restaurants. Over the following two decades, the company expanded significantly by constructing new stores and acquiring additional franchise operators, ultimately becoming the largest Applebee's franchisee worldwide. Flynn Group's robust foundation has enabled it to broaden its footprint across various brands, countries, and industries. Today, the group operates over 460 Applebee's restaurants across 24 states in the United States.
Flynn Applebee's is one of the seven premier brands within Flynn Group, which has grown to be the largest franchise operator globally. Flynn Group owns and manages a diversified portfolio of restaurants featuring iconic, world-class brands across different market segments, including Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. The company is dedicated to becoming the premier operator within each brand by adhering to its core values: Care Genuinely for People, Play like a Champion, and Win as One.
The role of Assistant Manager at Applebee's is a full-time position offering a projected total compensation starting from $60,000 per year. In this position, you will be deeply involved in the daily operational management of the restaurant. The Assistant Manager is entrusted with the responsibility of inspiring both guests and staff to have a passion for their experience at Applebee's every day. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills, resilience under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining a high-energy and enjoyable work environment.
As an Assistant Manager, you will oversee service quality, ensuring friendly and prompt guest interactions that meet company guidelines and exceed established restaurant goals. You will foster a workplace culture that embodies Flynn Applebee's core values and core beliefs, ensuring all staff members act in alignment with these principles. Addressing guest concerns swiftly and effectively is a priority, along with maintaining frequent guest contact through table visits following standard operational procedures.
Operational duties involve managing inventory levels within your department, conducting quality control checks on food preparation and presentation, and organizing staff schedules to match business needs. You will also ensure safety and security measures are upheld, participate in restaurant cleanliness, sanitation, and minor maintenance activities, and report any issues to the General Manager or Area Director.
Recruitment and team development are integral to this role, including promoting quality hiring and referrals of new team members and managerial candidates, supporting new manager training, and fostering continual employee growth via meetings, training sessions, performance reviews, and documentation. It is expected that you will provide consistent feedback, help develop employee skills, manage disciplinary actions when necessary, and ensure adherence to company policies and legal regulations.
Cost control, regulatory compliance, and accurate daily paperwork submission are key responsibilities, alongside conducting regular food and liquor inventories. You will also serve as a role model for both managers and staff and remain proactive in learning and applying store-related technology. Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to work various shifts, including weekends, and be willing to assist in any restaurant position as needed, such as cooking, bartending, seating guests, or expediting orders.
This role demands physical stamina, including standing for long periods, safely lifting up to 50 pounds, and possessing the manual dexterity required for various tasks. Certifications in Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol are beneficial but not mandatory. Flynn Group is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accommodating applicants with disabilities, providing a supportive and dynamic working environment.
Joining Flynn Applebee's as an Assistant Manager means becoming part of an industry-leading team passionate about delivering excellent guest experiences and fostering a thriving team culture. This is a unique opportunity to grow your career with a globally recognized franchise operator that values leadership, teamwork, and operational excellence.
