Job Description
Flynn Group, founded by Greg Flynn, began its journey in the restaurant industry by acquiring eight Applebee's locations in 1999. Over the past two decades, the company has expanded impressively by opening new stores and acquiring other franchise operators, ultimately establishing itself as the largest Applebee's franchisee worldwide. With a presence that spans over 460 Applebee's restaurants in 24 states, Flynn Group has built a strong foundation for continued growth and diversification.
Flynn Group is not limited to Applebee's alone; it has broadened its portfolio to include several other prestigious brands such as Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. The company has positioned itself as the largest franchise operator globally by maintaining a diversified portfolio of well-known, world-class brands across various industry segments. Flynn Group's primary mission is to be the premier operator within each brand it manages, a goal achieved by upholding core values that emphasize genuine care for people, competitive spirit, and teamwork under the mantra of "Care Genuinely for People, Play like a Champion, and Win as One."
The role of an Applebee's® Assistant Manager within Flynn Group is pivotal to the daily success and smooth operation of the restaurant. This full-time position, offering a projected total compensation between $67,000 and $78,000 annually, is hands-on and highly involved with both guests and staff. The assistant manager is responsible for fostering a passionate environment where guests and employees alike feel engaged and motivated. The individual in this role must demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills, be able to handle stressful situations effectively, and maintain a positive and productive work atmosphere.
An Applebee's® Assistant Manager is deeply involved in managing the restaurant in alignment with company standards, including ensuring timely and friendly customer service, upholding food quality and presentation, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards. This position requires someone who can cultivate a positive restaurant culture that aligns with Flynn Applebee's core values and who can manage staff performance through coaching, training, and regular evaluations.
This role demands operational expertise such as managing departmental inventories, scheduling employees to meet business needs, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Assistant Manager also plays an essential role in employee recruitment, onboarding, and development, utilizing the company’s Management Development Program to grow leadership skills continuously. Moreover, flexibility is a key attribute of the ideal candidate, as the position entails working various shifts, including weekends, and being willing to support team members in various restaurant roles, from cooking to bartending.
Flynn Group emphasizes a supportive and inclusive work environment, committed to diversity and providing reasonable accommodations as needed. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) and matching contributions, paid time off, paid training, a flexible schedule, and employee discounts. This builds an attractive candidate opportunity for those looking to grow their careers in a dynamic and supportive restaurant management environment.
