The role of Applebee's Assistant Manager at Flynn Group is a challenging and rewarding position that requires dynamic leadership and a hands-on approach to managing daily operations. This full-time role oversees the restaurant's guest service, employee engagement, operational standards, and overall restaurant performance. Assistant Managers play a key role in creating a positive work environment that encourages both employees and guests to have an exceptional experience each day at Applebee's. The position involves leading by example and fulfilling various responsibilities such as problem-solving, schedule management, quality control, and safety compliance. Assistant Managers are expected to assist in all restaurant positions when necessary, including cooking, bartending, and guest seating. Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Ability to work various shifts including weekends
  • Ability to stand and exert mobility for up to ten hours
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to read and write for communication
  • Finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and train teams effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations and food safety standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations

Job Duties

  • Ensure timely friendly service according to company guidelines achieving established objectives of the unit
  • Cultivate a culture in accordance with Flynn Applebee's core values and beliefs
  • Respond immediately and correct all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • Prioritize guest contact with completion of required table visits
  • Maintain departmental inventory levels
  • Ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards by performing line checks
  • Effectively schedule employees to meet sales demands
  • Maintain effective safety and security programs
  • Promote and lead restaurant organization cleanliness and sanitation
  • Perform routine maintenance and report needed repairs to General Manager or Area Director
  • Promote quality recruitment and referrals of potential team members and management candidates
  • Implement Flynn Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • Maintain a trained staff through employment orientation individual training sessions employee meetings and company policy implementation
  • Participate in employee development using one-on-one sessions performance documentation and write evaluations
  • Assess employee efficiency provide fair feedback and work on employee development
  • Monitor employee performance and document situations requiring disciplinary or corrective action
  • Assure compliance with company policies practices and procedures
  • Control costs in assigned department
  • Comply with local state and federal laws regulations and guidelines
  • Drive bi-weekly or weekly food and liquor inventories at AD or GM's request and ensure completion
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork
  • Assure sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • Provide a role model for managers and employees
  • Develop self on all store related technology
  • Work in all positions and assist in team member positions as needed including cooking line expo seating guests bartending
  • Use the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
