As a Companion Animal Supervisor at Petco, you will be a vital leader responsible for the health, care, and presentation of live animals within the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments. This role emphasizes combining a strong commitment to pet welfare with operational excellence and business acumen to foster a thriving environment for both pets and customers. Overseeing animal health and safety is paramount, alongside driving sales, improving customer experiences, and maintaining high standards of operational discipline. You will guide and influence your team by coaching partners to deliver knowledgeable, compassionate care and exceptional service, fostering a workplace culture that values inclusion, teamwork, and a shared passion for pets.

This position requires balancing the art of animal care with the science of retail business management. You will utilize data and trends to analyze opportunities and implement solutions that enhance both animal welfare and business performance. The role includes managing live animal inventory efficiently to optimize health and sales goals, supporting omni-channel retail strategies like buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPUS) and ship-from-store services, and stepping into leadership duties when needed to ensure seamless Pet Care Center operations. The Companion Animal Supervisor actively models leadership behaviors and exemplifies Petco’s core values which prioritize pets’ needs, celebrate the joy of pet parenthood, and foster a strong, unified team.

The work environment for this role is primarily in a Pet Care Center retail setting, requiring frequent hands-on engagement with animals, customers, and team partners. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and exposure to animal-related elements such as dander and cleaning chemicals. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is necessary to support Petco’s operational needs.
