Known for its dedication to quality care and comprehensive medical services, Baylor Scott & White Health empowers people to live well by providing advanced and compassionate healthcare solutions. The organization embodies core values that emphasize faithful service, continuous improvement, community support, and impactful patient care. These guiding principles create a workplace environment focused on integrity, collaboration, and excellence in healthcare delivery.
Baylor Scott & White Health offers a range of benefits to its employees, including eligibility for benefits from day one, a competitive 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, debt-free tuition assistance for degrees and certificates, and immediate access to paid time off. These benefits support employees throughout their careers and personal development, demonstrating the company’s commitment to fostering a healthy, balanced, and rewarding work experience. With a strong emphasis on well-being, Baylor Scott & White ensures that its staff are supported at every stage of their journey.
The role being offered is for a masters-prepared specialty anesthesiologist assistant, working directly under the supervision of a licensed anesthesiologist. This position requires administering anesthesia protocols to patients and performing necessary follow-up care, all while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. The supervising anesthesiologist retains accountability for the activities of the anesthesiologist assistant, ensuring continuous oversight throughout the patient’s anesthetic experience. The position is limited to select locations based on unique workplace dynamics, making it essential for the candidate to be adaptable and collaborative.
Key responsibilities in this role include administering anesthetics with a focus on the patient’s cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic health. The assistant is tasked with advanced treatment procedures such as advanced airway interventions, tracheal intubation, adjusting vasoactive infusion doses, administering anesthetic and vasoactive drugs, and blood transfusions as ordered. Communication and consultation with the supervising anesthesiologist are critical, especially when deviations from the expected anesthetic course occur or for key stages like induction and extubation.
Another vital aspect of this role involves establishing a detailed patient database through chart review, medical record examination, and patient interviews. This data assists in precise anesthetic planning and decision-making. The anesthesiologist assistant also orders preoperative evaluations and pre-medications following consultations with the anesthesiologist, contributing to a patient-focused culture that prioritizes the best possible care.
The role requires proficiency in initiating multi-parameter monitoring, including arterial and venous catheters and interpreting complex data from central venous, pulmonary artery, or intracranial monitoring devices. Post-operative management responsibilities include managing post-op ventilator support and acute pain management based on protocols or guidance from the attending anesthesiologist. This comprehensive scope ensures continuity of care from pre-op preparation through post-op recovery.
Baylor Scott & White Health fosters a workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion, believing that all people should feel welcomed, valued, and supported. The organization emphasizes that its workforce should reflect the communities it serves, promoting fairness and respect in all interactions. This commitment to belonging and community is integral to the company’s mission of outstanding patient care and employee satisfaction.
