Corbion is currently seeking a skilled Chemical Analyst to join its Blair, Nebraska facility. This full-time role plays a crucial part in ensuring the quality and safety of products throughout the manufacturing process. The Chemical Analyst will be responsible for the comprehensive testing and approval of products, including in-process testing and final product evaluation, as well as analyzing packaging supplies and raw materials. A strong safety focus and the ability to work independently are essential traits for success in this position. The role involves maintaining test methods, calibrating laboratory instruments, validating test methods, and supporting laboratory and production quality objectives. While duties may vary slightly depending on the specific instrumentation available at different lactic acid and derivative production sites, the primary objective remains consistent: guaranteeing product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include reviewing documentation and updating procedures related to operations, supply chain, and quality control and assurance to uphold product traceability and quality standards. The Chemical Analyst will analyze raw materials, in-process samples, final products, and customer samples to ensure compliance with the established quality benchmarks. Collaboration with operations and supply chain teams is vital to achieving first-time quality and improving customer quality indices. Moreover, the Analyst will provide technical support to engineering and technology teams on new product developments and process improvements to maintain the highest product integrity.
An important part of this role involves completing OSHA-required safety training, calibrating and troubleshooting laboratory instruments such as pH meters, colorimeters, and spectrophotometers, and ensuring the availability of necessary chemicals and supplies. The Chemical Analyst will also provide training to operations personnel on the accuracy of in-process testing and enforce rigorous Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards, and other quality, regulatory, environmental, safety, and health guidelines.
The role requires extensive data entry and analysis using various software systems, requiring proficiency with tools such as Excel, sample management systems, SAP, and Master Control. The analyst must maintain a clean, contaminant-free working environment, prioritize safety, and operate efficiently within a dynamic plant setting. Physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, occasional kneeling, climbing, bending, squatting, and navigating multiple plant levels using stairs. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory to ensure a safe work environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for those passionate about chemical analysis, quality assurance, and contributing to a leading company in sustainable ingredients industry.
