The Catering Assistant role within AHC Hospitality’s Catering Department is fundamental in supporting Catering Managers to deliver seamless event services. The position involves various administrative and operational responsibilities, including managing inquiries, coordinating contracts, and facilitating site visits. The Catering Assistant will also handle event order documentation, maintain communication lines between event operations teams, and assist with coordinating final event details. This pivotal support role demands a high degree of organization, communication skills, and hospitality knowledge to ensure exceptional experiences for guests and clients.
Additional responsibilities include providing general administrative support, preparing and dispatching reports to relevant departments, attending regular staff meetings, and stepping up to manage client requests in the absence of Catering Managers. The role also requires participation in an aggressive hospitality program designed to greet guests warmly and attentively. The position ensures adherence to hotel policies and procedures, uniform standards, and safety protocols while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. The Catering Assistant contributes to creating well-organized and guest-focused event environments, fostering goodwill and satisfaction among guests and colleagues alike.
Candidates must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds, proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams, and preferably experienced with catering software. Familiarity with hotel layouts, products, services, and history is an advantage. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with qualities such as reliability, organization, professionalism, and attention to detail. The ability to work primarily Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility to extend hours as needed, is required.
This position typically suits individuals with a high school diploma or GED, with prior experience in catering, conventions, or the hospitality sector being advantageous. A background in hospitality education or a related bachelors program is also preferred. Physical demands of the job include standing, walking, using hands and arms, occasional lifting, and the ability to maintain focus on multiple sensory inputs throughout the workday. Job Duties
- Provide general administrative assistance to all Catering Managers
- create and email reports to the proper departments
- attend weekly staff meetings

- support managers within the catering department as requested
- learn and follow all hotel policies and procedures pertaining to area of work

- practice safety standards and report all unsafe conditions
- provide fast and courteous service to guests maintaining a well organized work area
- conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times as a goodwill ambassador to ensure guest satisfaction
