The Host position at the American Girl Retail Flagship in Los Angeles presents an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service and hospitality. Reporting directly to the Café Manager, this role centers on delivering exceptional dining experiences by greeting and seating guests efficiently, managing reservations, and collaborating closely with the restaurant team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and approaches challenging service situations with professionalism and sound judgement. The role encompasses managing waitlists, maximizing seating capacity, overseeing ambiance elements like lighting and music, and ensuring accurate communication with restaurant staff regarding special requests and event details. Proficiency in reservation and register systems such as Zomato and InfoGenesis, coupled with Microsoft Office skills, is essential.

They assist the restaurant team when needed, contribute to staff training opportunities, and actively share information about store and restaurant events with guests. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience as a restaurant host, hotel concierge, or related customer service position preferred
- proficiency in restaurant reservation and POS systems
- knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- ability to manage large crowds and resolve conflicts professionally
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a restaurant host, hotel concierge, or related customer service position, preferred
- computer skills including restaurant reservation and POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and use of basic office equipment (copiers/fax), preferred
- experience working with children, preferred
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically and maintain professionalism
- flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Greets guests promptly and provides timely seating of guests by maintaining accurate waitlists, while maximizing seating capacity
- manages large crowds in a professional manner and is able to resolve challenging service situations diplomatically
- creates and maintains a pleasant ambiance in the dining room and party rooms through lighting, music, and table placement
- communicates accurate dining room and party room setup, along with special requests and birthday information, to the restaurant team
- shares information on the store and restaurant events with guests
- utilizes Zomato reservation and InfoGenesis register systems, along with Microsoft Office, to perform job functions
- initiates training opportunities with restaurant staff
- assists restaurant staff as needed in providing an outstanding dining experience
