The American Girl Retail team, part of Mattel, plays a vital role in delivering memorable experiences to American Girl fans and their families. The team operates experiential retail stores that serve as unique shopping destinations. These stores provide a range of interactive experiences including Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing services for both girls and dolls, as well as hosting celebrations and parties. The American Girl Retail team operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that demands innovation, collaboration, and excellent execution at every level.

The Café Lead position is a key role situated at the American Girl Retail Flagship location reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager. This position entails assisting with daily restaurant operations, leading and directing the department's team, and ensuring an outstanding level of customer service to all American Girl guests. The Café Lead supports restaurant leadership with managing staffing and hiring efforts, coaching and training team members, overseeing purchasing and vendor relations, maintaining inventory levels, ensuring compliance with food and beverage service standards, and upholding health and safety regulations. This role is crucial in achieving department revenue and controlling expenses while maintaining high standards of food quality and customer satisfaction. The Café Lead also plays a significant role in resolving any customer service issues promptly to sustain a positive dining experience and collaborates with restaurant and store management to deliver exceptional events and programs. Responsibilities include maintaining effective communication across staff and management, troubleshooting operational systems including restaurant and kitchen equipment, Zomato Reservation system, POS, and InfoGenesis software, and leading by example in all aspects of the business.

The position requires a flexible schedule with availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts including holidays. Mattel offers a competitive hourly wage for this part-time role, with pay ranging from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour dependent on location, skills, and experience. Job Requirements

high school diploma or equivalent
prior restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
current state sanitation certification preferred
ability to lift up to 50 lbs
flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
excellent communication skills
strong leadership capabilities
proficiency with restaurant software and point-of-sale systems

Job Qualifications

restaurant experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, with both front and back of house operations exposure, preferred
experience working with children, preferred
current state sanitation certification, servsafe, and safe alcohol consumption certification, preferred
strong working knowledge of eatec system, microsoft office (word, excel, and outlook), infogenesis/universal desktop, zomato reservation systems, jtech paging system, pos systems, inventory systems, and basic office equipment (copiers and fax), preferred
ability to perform diverse physical tasks, including constant walking and standing, and some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

support the restaurant leadership team in overseeing staffing, hiring, coaching/training, purchasing/vendor relations, inventories, maintaining food/beverage service standards, and ensuring safety and sanitation standards
assist the team in achieving department revenue and expense goals
ensure customer satisfaction with their dining experience and oversee resolution of any customer service issues
ensure food quality and consistency, special requests and special dietary needs and performs tasks in absence of the restaurant leadership team
work with restaurant and store management teams to deliver exceptional events and programs
maintain on-going communications with both staff and management
maintain and troubleshoot operational issues, including restaurant/kitchen equipment, Zomato reservation system, POS, and InfoGenesis software systems
