The American Girl Franklin retail store is an engaging destination that offers customers a unique combination of retail shopping alongside interactive events and experiences such as parties and bistro dining. The organization is currently seeking a dedicated Lead Party Planner to join the team, offering a 30-hour per week, benefits eligible position paying $17 per hour, with potential for additional earnings based on experience.

The Lead Party Planner role is pivotal in delivering unforgettable party experiences that meet the high standards synonymous with the American Girl brand. This position entails managing every detail of party planning from initial customer interaction through event execution. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, personable, and skilled in communication, capable of coordinating with party guests to craft magical events tailored to their needs while ensuring a superior level of customer service. Additionally, the Lead Party Planner will work closely with management and team members, oversee reservations, handle caterer communications, maintain staff schedules, and ensure compliance with food safety and workplace guidelines.

Beyond event planning, the role involves active participation in the daily operation of the retail store, assisting with sales goals, managing customer relations, and supporting various retail functions including doll hair salon services, programming, events, and personal shopping experiences. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, demonstrating a proactive approach to resolving issues and fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere for guests and staff alike. Experience with food and beverage service, as well as an aptitude for working with children and engaging them in activities such as games, crafts, and doll styling, will be valuable in this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to two years experience in high volume, fine-casual dining or related restaurant preferred
  • minimum six months work experience in customer relations, parties or events
  • serve safe certification preferred
  • experience working with children preferred
  • must enjoy public speaking
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • warm and friendly demeanor
  • ability to handle customer issues and requests
  • ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds
  • availability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • One to two years experience in a high volume, fine-casual dining or related restaurant preferred
  • minimum six months work experience in customer relations, parties or events
  • Serve Safe certification preferred
  • experience working with children preferred, including ability to execute games, crafts, and style doll hair
  • must enjoy public speaking

  • ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a high pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Ensure customer service is the top priority of the party team
  • coach and motivate staff to expected performance standards
  • promptly resolve and handle all customer problems, issues and special requests, in partnership with management
  • meet sales goals and budgetary guidelines
  • use InfoGenesis and POS register systems to complete all transactions according to company policy
  • work with Retail Service Support on incoming party requests and reservations
  • create party contracts with customers detailing party specifics
  • provide accurate and timely caterer orders
  • update management on food selection and number of attendees
  • develop fair and balanced work schedules for the party team
  • assign FOH and BOH work assignments
  • maintain inventory
  • follow food safety, sanitation and workplace safety guidelines
  • create and maintain a pleasant ambiance in the dining room and party rooms on the day of events
  • greet and seat guests in a timely manner
  • manage special requests and use sound judgement for challenging service situations
  • share store and event information with guests
  • take and deliver beverage and food orders
  • service the party throughout events
  • prepare desserts and to-go transactions
  • deliver and process checks
  • bus and reset tables
  • conduct daily cleanup and restocking of supplies
  • execute programs to American Girl standards including games, crafts, hair styling and skin care of dolls
  • assist management as needed to oversee the retail side of business including retail sales, customer service, doll hair/salon, programs/events, and personal shopping
