Job Description

Vital Medical Transport is a reputable healthcare transportation company based in Memphis, Tennessee, specializing in providing safe and timely ambulance transport services to the community. The company is dedicated to ensuring patients receive the best care possible even before they reach medical facilities by maintaining high operational standards through its fleet and support services. Operating as a critical link in emergency medical services, Vital Medical Transport emphasizes reliability, professionalism, and team collaboration. They seek to employ individuals who support this mission by ensuring every ambulance is clean, well-stocked, safe, and ready for immediate deployment, a crucial aspect that directly affects patient outcomes and the efficiency of medical crews. Whether responding to emergencies or routine medical transports, the company’s fleet readiness allows EMTs and paramedics to focus on their life-saving duties without concern for equipment availability or vehicle reliability.

The Ambulance Fleet Porter / Vehicle Detail & Maintenance Assistant role at Vital Medical Transport is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about vehicles and the healthcare industry but who may not require a medical certification. This full-time, hourly position involves hands-on maintenance and operational support that keeps the ambulance fleet in peak condition. Candidates will find the role engaging as it combines physical activity, attention to detail, and teamwork within a vital healthcare environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for cleaning, detailing, and sanitizing ambulances inside and out, as well as managing supplies and equipment essential for emergency medical services. This multifaceted role contributes significantly to the safety and preparedness of ambulances, supporting EMTs and paramedics in delivering prompt and effective patient care.

The role goes beyond cleanliness; it also includes logistical responsibilities such as inventory tracking, stocking vehicles with necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning and ready for use. Porters will assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks, from checking fluid levels to inspecting tires and helping prepare vehicles for professional service appointments. Reporting and documenting maintenance needs is an integral part of the job to uphold the fleet's operational integrity. Additionally, the role supports operational efficiency by running errands, transporting vehicles as directed, and coordinating effectively with dispatch and medical crews.

Vital Medical Transport looks for motivated, reliable individuals who take pride in their work and understand the importance of their role within the emergency medical services framework. This job represents a meaningful career path for those interested in supporting healthcare operations, with opportunities for growth into EMS or other operational roles. The company values punctuality, responsibility, and a solid work ethic, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds such as auto detailing, warehouse operations, fleet support, or even students aspiring to enter the EMS field.

Working conditions require resilience and adaptability, given exposure to various environmental elements including extreme temperatures, dust, and noise. The physical nature of the job demands stamina and strength, particularly the ability to lift heavy objects and remain active throughout the shift. Applicants should be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, as these are mandatory for the role. Candidates familiar with vehicle maintenance or healthcare transportation are preferred but not required, as comprehensive training and support are provided.

With competitive pay, full-time hours, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay, Vital Medical Transport offers an attractive employment opportunity. This position particularly suits individuals looking for steady work that directly impacts community health and safety, making it a rewarding and fulfilling job every day.
