Job Description
Our healthcare institution is a leading provider of compassionate and comprehensive medical services dedicated to enhancing patient experience and ensuring excellent care. We operate within a hospital environment and are committed to delivering superior service to both patients and their families through a team-oriented approach. As part of our commitment to outstanding patient care, we seek to employ skilled Ambassadors who will support various departments, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and patient waiting areas, by providing vital guest relations and patient support services.
The Ambassador role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities that are essential to the smooth operation of patient-facing services in the hospital. Ambassadors act as the liaison between patients, their families, and the medical staff, offering medical information, updates, and crisis intervention support where necessary. This role is integral to improving patient satisfaction by rounding new patient rooms, offering information and assistance, and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally. Ambassadors also play a key role in educating patients and families about service excellence survey expectations, thus contributing to the continuous improvement of service quality.
The position requires individuals to perform guest relations duties such as greeting visitors, assisting with wheelchairs, helping with valet services, maintaining first impression areas, managing driveway traffic control, providing directions and information, and assisting visitors in various capacities. Ambassadors are also responsible for staffing the Information Desks, Emergency Department Desks, Pedway Carts, and ICU waiting rooms as needed. Proficiency with multiple computer systems, including IBEX, Invision, and Net Access, is required to maintain accurate information input and manage assigned computer stations efficiently.
In addition to these duties, Ambassadors are expected to function effectively in the fast-paced, high-stress environment of a hospital setting, demonstrating excellent analytical skills such as planning, organizing, and troubleshooting. The role also involves performing various escorts and Medical Mall transport responsibilities that do not require the presence of a commissioned officer. For those serving in a lead capacity at the Medical Mall, additional responsibilities include managing shift coverage, handling time-off requests, ordering supplies, and overseeing timely completion of health-related tests for Ambassadors in their area.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college education preferred. Candidates should have prior experience in hotel, retail, public relations, patient care, or related healthcare fields, complemented by proficiency in Windows-based operating software. Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and customer service skills are essential. A valid driver’s license is mandatory, with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred before assignment to specific units and to be maintained thereafter.
This comprehensive role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare and patient service excellence to contribute significantly to the patient experience and hospital operations. By joining our team as an Ambassador, you will be part of a dynamic environment where your skills in communication, customer service, crisis intervention, and technology will be highly valued and developed.
