The Restaurant Server (RS) role at Sonesta International Hotels is integral to delivering the mission and overall success of the hotel. As a Server, you are entrusted with setting up, servicing, and breaking down assigned food and beverage areas, always ensuring the highest standards of quality, consistency, and customer service. This role demands a commitment to hospitality, enthusiasm for guest interaction, and the ability to operate efficiently in a dynamic food service environment. The Restaurant Server acts as the frontline ambassador for the hotel’s dining venues, responsible for greeting guests warmly, taking and accurately inputting orders, and ensuring timely delivery of food and beverages while maintaining a professional demeanor. The position involves constant collaboration with kitchen and bar staff, emphasizing teamwork and smooth service flow.

This role is suited for individuals who are motivated by guest satisfaction, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure, and dedicated to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. The successful Server will be adept at menu knowledge, including ingredients and allergen awareness, and will proactively seek opportunities to upsell specials to enhance the guest’s dining experience. Their responsibilities extend beyond serving to encompass handling guest inquiries and complaints professionally, assisting with opening and closing duties, and contributing positively during training sessions and staff meetings. Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests in a friendly and welcoming manner
  • present menus, take orders, and answer questions about menu items
  • provide recommendations and upsell specials or additional items
  • input orders accurately into the POS system and ensure timely delivery to the kitchen
  • serve food and beverages promptly and courteously
  • check back with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
  • monitor table cleanliness and promptly clear dishes and utensils
  • prepare and deliver accurate checks, handle payments, and process transactions
  • maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and allergens
  • adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service
  • assist with opening and closing duties, including setup and cleanup
  • uphold a positive attitude and teamwork mentality
  • attend training sessions and staff meetings as required
