Our uniquely diverse portfolio includes owned, managed, and franchised properties, making Sonesta present everywhere travelers and guests want to be. Driven by the human side of hospitality, we pride ourselves on delivering service carried out with genuine passion, loyalty imbued with purpose, and experiences that build real connections with every guest. Spanning over 1000 properties across eight countries, Sonesta International Hotels is committed to bringing exceptional quality, value, and hospitality to every guest and every stay.
The role of a Restaurant Server (RS) at Sonesta International Hotels is an integral position contributing directly to the mission and overall success of the hotel. This role involves consistently delivering high-performance results aligned with our standards for food service across our diverse venues. The Server is responsible for setting up, servicing, and breaking down the food and beverage areas assigned, ensuring exceptional quality, consistency, and outstanding service each time.
In detail, the Restaurant Server greets and seats guests warmly and professionally, presenting menus and taking orders while answering any questions regarding menu items. This role involves providing informed recommendations and upselling specials to enhance the guest’s dining experience. The Server inputs orders accurately into the POS system, facilitating timely communication with the kitchen to ensure prompt and courteous service of food and beverages. Continuous attention is paid to guest satisfaction throughout their visit, checking back to address any concerns and ensuring an excellent customer experience.
Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the dining area by promptly clearing dishes and utensils falls under the Server’s responsibilities, along with preparing and delivering accurate checks, handling payments, and processing transactions efficiently. Staying knowledgeable about menu items, including ingredients and allergens, is crucial, alongside adhering to rigorous food safety and sanitation standards.
Collaboration with kitchen and bar staff is essential to ensure a smooth, seamless dining service from start to finish. Additionally, the Server participates in opening and closing duties, including set-up and clean-up operations, and actively contributes to maintaining a positive team environment. Ongoing training and development are also part of this role through staff meetings and training sessions. Handling guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner is a priority, alongside strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulations. Professionalism in both appearance and behavior is expected at all times.
Sonesta recognizes the importance of supporting its employees not only through meaningful work but also through comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans with company matches, paid time off, and more, reinforcing its commitment to employee wellbeing and satisfaction.
