Job Description

Uchiko Miami Beach is part of Hai Hospitality, an influential multi-concept restaurant group headquartered in Austin, Texas. Known for its innovative approach to Japanese dining, Uchiko is the creative offspring of Uchi, crafted by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole. Uchiko distinguishes itself by integrating bold flavors with traditional Japanese culinary techniques, offering guests a dynamic experience that combines fresh, clean tastes with smoky char and fire-grilled elements. The restaurant enjoys a stellar reputation for craftsmanship, quality, and exceptional hospitality, making it a sought-after dining destination in Miami Beach. Uchiko, along with other Hai Hospitality concepts such as Uchi, Uchiba, and Loro, operates in multiple cities including Austin, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Miami, Miami Beach, West Hollywood, and Scottsdale, representing a growing and vibrant culinary brand.

Uchiko Miami Beach is currently seeking dedicated AM Prep Cooks to join their culinary team. The role is an excellent opportunity for cooks passionate about quality food and working in an exciting, fast-paced kitchen environment. The position offers a competitive wage of $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience, along with a $750 sign-on bonus paid in two installments—$250 after 90 days post-training and $500 after six months of employment. This role is ideal for individuals seeking growth within a company that highly values internal promotion and professional development. Through its various employee programs, Uchiko provides comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, accident, and pet insurance options, along with mental health services via an Employee Assistance Program. Employees also enjoy perks like an employer-matched 401k savings plan, knife reimbursement and sharpening programs, cultural ambassador trips, daily family meals, dining discounts, and monthly dining stipends.

The AM Prep Cook plays a crucial role in kitchen operations, supporting the culinary team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and ensuring food safety standards are met. Candidates for this position should be able to communicate effectively with guests and teammates, identify and address safety concerns, and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, bending, stooping, and reaching. The role demands working safely and efficiently with kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, and knives. Adaptability to both hot and cold kitchen conditions is necessary, as is the ability to work well in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with close collaboration among kitchen staff. Maintaining a neat and hygienic appearance is essential, along with adhering to Uchiko’s commitments to professionalism and inclusivity.

Uchiko Miami Beach embraces diversity and inclusion, offering reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities to support their essential job functions. The restaurant values employees who exhibit work ethic, creativity, and dedication to crafting memorable dining experiences. Those joining Uchiko become part of a passionate team within Hai Hospitality’s respected network of restaurants, where the culture emphasizes growth, community, and excellence. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that celebrates both tradition and innovation in Japanese cuisine, with a focus on hospitality, quality, and employee well-being.
