Known for its distinctive portfolio of brands and nationwide market presence, Vandelay embodies the spirit of American dining through its timeless spaces, genuine warmth, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Every guest interaction is designed to leave a lasting impression, making Vandelay a trusted name for exceptional service and culinary excellence. This dedication to crafting memorable dining experiences positions Vandelay as a top choice for individuals seeking to build rewarding careers in the hospitality sector.
Among the vibrant Vandelay portfolio is D.L. Mack’s Hillcrest, a restaurant that exemplifies the company’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction. The AM Prep Cook position at D.L. Mack’s Hillcrest offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about the art of food preparation and eager to contribute to a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is hourly paid, offering between $20 and $25 per hour, with various benefits for both full and part-time employees, including health insurance and employee discounts.
The AM Prep Cook plays a foundational role in the daily operations of D.L. Mack’s Hillcrest’s kitchen. This position is essential in preparing ingredients according to precise recipes and quality standards, ensuring that all menu items maintain consistency and excellence. Prep Cooks handle a variety of tasks such as washing, chopping, measuring, and mixing ingredients, contributing directly to the smooth execution of kitchen service from morning through service hours. Attention to detail, reliability, and culinary passion are key traits for success in this role as it supports multiple kitchen leadership positions, including the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef.
Beyond ingredient preparation, the AM Prep Cook is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace. Adherence to all food safety and sanitation protocols is critical to uphold Vandelay’s high standards and state and local regulations. The role requires effective communication with culinary leadership regarding inventory, equipment issues, and other operational concerns to avoid disruptions in service. Operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining proper labeling and storage of ingredients further exemplify the responsibilities involved.
Teamwork is at the heart of Vandelay’s kitchen culture. The AM Prep Cook is expected to participate collaboratively with team members, fostering a positive and supportive environment. Flexibility and adaptability are valued traits, as the kitchen environment can be dynamic and demanding. The role requires embracing change, following structured opening and closing procedures, and contributing proactively to the ongoing success of the culinary program.
For those who thrive in a fast-paced hospitality setting and seek to grow professionally within a company that values craftsmanship, connection, and hospitality, this opportunity at D.L. Mack’s Hillcrest under Vandelay Companies offers a promising career path with competitive pay and a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, vision plans, and more. Join a culture that takes care of people first and makes guests’ experiences truly exceptional.
