Job Description

Aventura at Carriage Inn is a reputable healthcare facility located in Dayton, Ohio, dedicated to providing exceptional long-term care and support to its residents. With a focus on delivering quality services in a warm and compassionate environment, Aventura at Carriage Inn specializes in skilled nursing and rehabilitation services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. The organization prides itself on maintaining high standards in healthcare while fostering a community-oriented atmosphere where residents feel valued and cared for. The facility is committed to compliance with all health regulations and strives to create a safe and welcoming environment for both residents and staff alike.

The role of Cook Supervisor at Aventura at Carriage Inn is a full-time position that plays a crucial part in the dietary department. This position is responsible for overseeing daily food preparation and kitchen operations to ensure that meals are prepared and served safely, timely, and in accordance with residents' dietary requirements. The Cook Supervisor will lead and guide dietary staff, including cooks, aides, and dishwashers, during assigned shifts. Key responsibilities include preparing meals based on established menus, recipes, and physician-ordered diets such as diabetic, pureed, or mechanical soft diets. The supervisor ensures that food is cooked and served at proper temperatures and adheres to quality presentation standards.

Additionally, this role emphasizes maintaining sanitation and safety throughout the kitchen. The Cook Supervisor enforces proper food handling, storage, and cleaning processes in compliance with health codes and facility policies. The Cook Supervisor will be expected to monitor and record food and equipment temperatures, ensure cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations, and promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns to the Dietary Manager. Inventory management support is also an important part of the duties, helping with tracking stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste through cost-effective practices.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or institutional food service settings. Prior supervisory or lead cook experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets and a ServSafe certification or equivalent is necessary to maintain food safety and quality standards. The role requires strong leadership skills, excellent time management, and effective communication abilities. Physical stamina is important as the supervisor must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in hot and humid kitchen conditions.

This full-time position includes rotating shifts, with work during weekends and holidays, and may have early morning or evening hours depending on meal schedules. The Cook Supervisor position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of residents by ensuring that dietary services meet both nutritional and regulatory requirements in a supportive team environment.
