Job Description

The Austin Club is a prestigious private dining club located in the heart of Austin, Texas. Known for its rich history and commitment to excellence, The Austin Club offers a unique dining and social experience to its esteemed members. Established with the goal of providing a refined environment for business leaders and community influencers, the club boasts elegant dining facilities, exceptional service, and a dedicated staff that uphold the highest standards of hospitality. The club takes pride in fostering a work environment that is not only professional but also respectful and appreciative of its employees. This is evident in the club’s comprehensive benefits package, which is notably generous for the hospitality industry. Full-time employees enjoy health insurance, life insurance, paid vacation, and retirement plans funded by the club, reflecting the organization’s commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.

The Austin Club is currently seeking experienced AM and PM Line Cooks to join its culinary team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in fine a la carte dining, banquets, and buffet preparation. Candidates should have expertise in sautéing and grilling, with prior experience in private clubs, fine dining, or hotel kitchens considered a significant advantage. While formal culinary training and proficiency in Spanish are beneficial, they are not mandatory, allowing for a broader range of applicants with practical kitchen experience. The club values candidates who have worked extensively in full scratch-prep kitchens, with a preference for those possessing three to five years of relevant experience.

The Line Cook position involves both solo and collaborative work as a team player. The successful candidate will oversee the evening a la carte dining service while also assisting with banquet operations. The Austin Club prides itself on a highly skilled and knowledgeable culinary staff, many of whom have been with the club for an average of over seven years. This longevity speaks to the supportive culture and job satisfaction within the organization. Currently, the position offers approximately 25 hours per week, primarily from 2:00 pm until close, which is typically around 9:30 pm. The club’s operating schedule is favorable, with closures on Sundays except for select holidays, no late-night dining, and early closing times from Tuesday to Thursday. Additionally, the club closes on most federal holidays and Monday evenings when the Texas Legislature is not in session.

This is a unique opportunity for line cooks seeking a stable, well-respected work environment where their culinary skills and contributions will be genuinely valued. The role is expected to transition to full-time hours in the near future, accompanied by the comprehensive benefits package mentioned above. The Austin Club is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring a welcoming workplace for all staff members regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics. Prospective applicants who are passionate about their craft and eager to advance their careers within a distinguished private club setting are encouraged to apply immediately, as the position is available now and the club is looking to fill it as soon as possible.
