Job Description

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC Greensboro or UNCG) is a distinguished public research university located in North Carolina's third largest city. Known for its diversity, learner-centered approach, and commitment to academic excellence, UNCG serves approximately 18,000 students enrolled across eight colleges and schools. The university offers more than 150 undergraduate degree programs and over 200 graduate study areas, catering to a wide range of academic interests and career paths. UNCG has been nationally recognized for its affordability and strong focus on social mobility, notably earning the distinction of being the most affordable institution in North Carolina for net cost according to The New York Times and ranking No. 1 in the state for social mobility based on The Wall Street Journal's evaluation. This reflects UNCG’s dedication to helping first-generation and lower-income students achieve success and prosperity through higher education.

In addition to its educational mission, UNCG is recognized as an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. The campus fosters a vibrant research environment with a portfolio exceeding $67 million in research and creative activity. The contributions of its 2,600 staff members extend beyond the campus, generating an economic impact surpassing $1 billion annually for the Piedmont Triad region, underscoring the university's integral role in the community and economy.

The Office of Alumni Engagement at UNCG operates as a vital extension of the University Advancement Division. Its fundamental mission is to engage, develop, and sustain strong relationships with the university's alumni community. By strategically planning and implementing innovative programs and communications, the office builds lasting connections between alumni, current students, and the broader UNCG community. This engagement is central to fostering alumni generosity in terms of their time, talent, and financial contributions, which are critical to supporting the goals of the University Advancement Division and the UNCG Alumni Association. Additionally, the Office of Alumni Engagement is responsible for managing the Alumni House, a facility designated for use by the university, alumni, and local community groups.

The Alumni House Manager role is a pivotal position within this office. This position is responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of the Alumni House facility, focusing on maximizing its potential as a revenue-generating venue while ensuring seamless event operations for the Advancement Division. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining annual preventative maintenance schedules, coordinating necessary campus services such as Facilities, Catering, Risk Management, and Public Safety, and addressing maintenance needs proactively. This role requires a thorough knowledge of audio/visual equipment used in event settings and entails hands-on involvement with event set-up, breakdown, and clean-up.

The manager also supervises staff assigned to events, ensures strict adherence to campus and facility policies, and manages all aspects of rental reservations, including bookings, confirmations, billing, and collections. An emphasis is placed on maintaining organized documentation, training staff on administrative tasks, and providing data-driven insights related to facility use and event success. The manager’s role further extends to supervising post-rental evaluations, compiling monthly management reports, and effectively communicating with multiple stakeholders to optimize the utilization of the Alumni House.

Position details include a full-time, non-exempt staff role with a work schedule primarily from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with additional coverage required during mornings, evenings, and weekends as events demand. The salary range for this position is $59,311 to $61,874, reflecting a competitive compensation aligned with experience and qualifications. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of service and operational excellence expected by UNC Greensboro and its vibrant alumni network.
