Job Description

We are currently seeking skilled Cooks/Chefs to join our culinary team at AlmaVia of Camarillo. This position offers hourly pay ranging from $20.90 to $22.57, dependent on experience, skills, and training. As a Cook/Chef, you will be an integral part of our hospitality services, preparing high quality meals that meet the specific dietary needs of our residents, including therapeutic and modified diets. This role entails preparing assigned stations each shift under the supervision of the lead cook or sous chef, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation standards mandated by State, Federal, and DSHS regulations. You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive kitchen setting where professionalism and attention to detail are essential. The ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, food vendors, and healthcare professionals is critical to maintaining our standards of excellence.

The position may require working a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and varied shifts, to meet the needs of our residents. The role demands a combination of culinary skills, interpersonal communication, and the ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors. Moreover, successful candidates must be certified in food safety and first aid or CPR training as per state and local guidelines. Compliance with mandatory background checks, drug screening, and any necessary pre-employment processes such as fingerprinting or physical examinations are also required based on regulatory requirements. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Flexibility with schedule, including occasional Saturdays/Sundays and other shifts
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
  • Completion of background check, drug screen, and/or pre-employment tasks such as fingerprint and physical (may be required per state/local requirements)
  • Ability to push/pull/carry up to 30lbs
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a cook/sous chef/grill cook (1-2 years preferred)
  • Ability to prepare high quality food for residents
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets
  • CPR and first aid training (may be required per state/local guidelines)
  • Successful completion of recognized food safety course as required by state/local guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare assigned stations for shift
  • Under direction of lead cook/sous chef, prepare individual components of various entrees and food items, adhering to the individual dietary restrictions of residents
  • Maintain kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling in compliance with State, Federal, and DSHS regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Prepare therapeutic/modified diets
  • Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
  • Ensure quality control of food preparation and presentation
