Job Description

Allergy & ENT Associates is a specialized healthcare provider committed to delivering comprehensive allergy and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care to patients. They focus on accurate diagnostics and innovative treatments that improve their patients' quality of life. Operating within a well-maintained clinical environment, the company embraces advanced laboratory techniques and follows strict health and safety protocols to ensure superior patient care and safety outcomes. Their commitment extends through a collaborative healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive personalized and effective treatment plans based on thorough clinical assessments and ongoing monitoring.

The role of the Allergy Mixing Technician is a vital position within the Mixing Lab / Clinical department of Allergy & ENT Associates. Reporting directly to the APL Manager, this full-time role is centered around the preparation and development of immunotherapy vials tailored for patients. Under the expert guidance of physicians, providers, and nursing staff, the technician prepares antigen mixtures using precise formulary guidelines to ensure that each patient receives the correct allergen extract. This position demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to lab protocols, including strict compliance with HIPAA confidentiality rules and OSHA safety regulations.

The Allergy Mixing Technician is responsible not only for preparing and mixing antigen panels but also assisting in the shipment of these materials to various medical offices associated with the practice. Daily reporting and inventory management of supplies and equipment are integral to the effective function of the lab. Additionally, this role requires cross-training in back-office responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility and a team-oriented approach within the clinical setting. Communication skills are critical, as the technician interacts regularly with healthcare professionals and is expected to document accurately in patient records and respond to nurse phone inquiries.

Safety and confidentiality are paramount within the work environment. The technician must maintain a clean and sterilized work area, properly handle allergen extracts, and use CPR skills if necessary. The role demands working in an isolated environment for prolonged periods and the ability to manage one’s time efficiently while prioritizing key tasks. The job is designed with a typical schedule from Monday to Friday, running from 7 am to 4 pm, without requiring overtime.

Applicants for this position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with credentials such as Medical Assistant or Lab Technician certification preferred. Licensed nurses are considered ideal candidates. Current CPR certification and a familiarity with antigen panels or shot room operations enhance candidacy. Technical proficiency with computer software like Microsoft Office and experience with systems such as Rosch and NextGen are advantageous.

The company fosters a professional atmosphere where employees demonstrate maturity, active listening, and effective communication skills to support a collaborative team environment. Professionals in this role are expected to navigate various interpersonal dynamics sensitively, ensuring patient confidentiality and demonstrating dependability, initiative, and excellent organizational skills. This detailed, structured role within a clinical allergy and ENT practice provides a rewarding career opportunity for those dedicated to patient care and laboratory accuracy.
