The role of Part-Time Barista at Alfred Coffee offers an exciting opportunity to enter the vibrant and fast-paced specialty coffee world. As a Part-Time Barista, one reports directly to the Cafe Manager and is classified under a non-exempt FLSA status, earning $17.87 per hour plus tips — which can amount to approximately $21.28 to $25.28 per hour. Key responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, delivering exceptional customer service, and crafting consistent, high-quality beverages to Alfred's established standards. The role also entails explaining beverage and food options, answering customer inquiries, managing phone orders and mobile app interactions, and maintaining a calm and welcoming presence, especially during busy periods.

Additionally, baristas at Alfred Coffee are trained in maintaining and operating coffee equipment, understanding coffee and tea origins and flavor profiles, and preparing food according to Alfred's recipes while following strict food handling protocols. A clean and organized prep space is maintained throughout shifts, and safety hazards are reported promptly to ensure a safe working environment. Teamwork and collaboration are highly valued, with baristas expected to communicate effectively, listen attentively, and work using a solution-oriented approach with their colleagues. Job Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
  • Move quickly and efficiently within the café environment

  • Flexibility to bend and squat as necessary to perform cleaning and stocking tasks
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a café or restaurant setting preferred but not required

  • Flexibility to attend quarterly team meetings or trainings scheduled outside of regular working hours
  • Maintain a minimum of 3 shifts per week

  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment, restock shelves, and assist with deliveries

  • Report operational inconsistencies and maintain a safe work environment by following hygiene protocols along with food and health safety standards
  • Follow all company procedures for cash handling, food safety, cafe organization, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Report safety hazards and employee accidents to the manager on duty
  • Maintain consistent attendance, provide advance notice for scheduling conflicts, and adhere to company policies
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the company’s employee handbook
  • Perform other tasks assigned to meet company goals
