The role of Part-Time Barista at Alfred’s Beverly Hills location is critical in maintaining the company's reputation for exceptional guest experiences. Reporting directly to the Cafe Manager, the Part-Time Barista is responsible for crafting high-quality coffee, tea, and food offerings while ensuring a hospitable, energetic, and organized cafe environment. This position is classified as non-exempt and offers an hourly wage starting at $17.87 plus tips, with an approximate total earning potential ranging from $21.50 to $25.50 per hour. The role requires consistent performance of beverage preparation, food service, operational duties, and active participation in fostering a positive team dynamic and compliance with safety and quality standards.
In this role, the Part-Time Barista will welcome guests with warmth, provide thoughtful guidance through beverage and food menus, handle phone inquiries, and manage orders efficiently, including mobile ordering operations. They will prepare beverages to Alfred’s exacting recipes and standards, maintain the cleanliness and operation of coffee equipment, and gain knowledge about coffee and tea origins and flavor profiles. Collaborative teamwork is essential, so this individual will work closely with leadership and peers to address operational needs and maintain shift consistency. Responsibilities also include maintaining an organized and fully stocked cafe environment, assisting with inventory and stock management, and adhering strictly to company policies and safety regulations. Job Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance
- Move quickly and efficiently throughout the cafe in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain strong close-range vision and attention to detail for drink preparation, cash handling, and order accuracy
- Bend, squat, reach, and perform cleaning, stocking, and other operational tasks as needed
- Remain on feet for extended periods throughout scheduled shifts
- Comfortably operate a POS system, cash register, or tablet device to accurately process customer orders and payments
- Demonstrate the hand dexterity and coordination needed to safely and efficiently operate espresso machines, steamers, grinders, and other cafe equipment while preparing beverages to company standards
Job Qualifications
- Previous cafe, coffee, or restaurant experience is preferred, but not required
- Passion for hospitality and creating positive customer experiences in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting while working efficiently under pressure
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn and grow
- Flexibility to attend quarterly team meetings, trainings, or company events that may occasionally take place outside of regular scheduled shifts
- Maintain reliable attendance and consistent availability, including a minimum commitment of three shifts per week
Job Duties
- Welcome guests with warmth and hospitality while delivering an elevated customer experience
- Guide customers through beverage and food offerings, answer questions thoughtfully, and build genuine rapport
- Handle phone inquiries, accurately process orders, and support mobile ordering operations
- Prepare consistent, high-quality beverages and food items in accordance with Alfred recipes and standards
- Operate, clean, and maintain coffee equipment while ensuring all beverage and food preparation areas remain clean, organized, and sanitary
- Develop knowledge of coffee and tea origins, flavor profiles, and preparation methods
- Foster a positive team environment through active listening, clear communication, and a solutions-oriented mindset
- Partner with leadership and teammates to address operational needs and maintain consistency across shifts
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked cafe environment throughout each shift
- Assist with inventory, restocking, deliveries, and overall cafe upkeep
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in Company’s employee handbook
- Additional tasks that may be assigned to meet company goals
- Follow all company procedures related to food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and cafe organization
- Report safety hazards, incidents, or operational concerns to the Management
