The role of Barista at Alberta Street Coffee is a part-time position reporting directly to the Director of Food and Beverage. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a coffee shop or food service environment
  • Passion for coffee and a strong interest in learning about different brewing techniques and beverage styles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service, ensuring a positive and personalized experience
  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages according to our recipes and standards
  • Operate coffee machines and equipment efficiently, maintaining quality and consistency in every drink
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately, providing correct change and processing payments promptly
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the coffee bar, and seating areas
  • Replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed
  • Assist with baking and food preparation, including pastries and light snacks, as required
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures (Oregon Food Handlers Card required for this role)
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations and a friendly, cooperative work environment
