The Airside Experience Specialist role at Signature Aviation is central to ensuring the smooth operation of the private aviation terminal (PAT) ground services. This position entails a variety of critical duties that contribute to the safety, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery for general aviation aircraft, crew, and guests. The Specialist operates multiple types of ground service equipment and strictly adheres to company policies and procedures, making sure the guests of the PAT receive top-notch support. This role requires a flexible schedule, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to operate under diverse environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures and noise. Tasks performed may occur both indoors and outdoors near aircraft, necessitating awareness and adherence to safety protocols especially around moving parts like spinning propellers and engines.
The Airside Experience Specialist collaborates closely with various stakeholders including team members, clients, vendors, and aircraft crew to provide services such as fueling, de-icing, lavatory servicing, ground power, potable water services, parking assistance, marshalling, wing walking, delivering catering, and towing operations. Safety is a top priority; the Specialist is expected to proactively identify and report safety concerns, maintain secure ramps, comply with all relevant regulations regarding operational safety, security protocols, fuel quality control, and emergency response procedures. The role demands excellent guest service skills to ensure every visitor has an outstanding experience—from courteous transportation services to friendly interaction and professional behavior.
This position requires proficiency in operating various ground support vehicles safely, handling cargo, and ensuring accurate documentation of services performed. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass background checks and drug tests
- Must be legally authorized to work
- Excellent vision including color vision
- Valid state driver’s license
- Ability to follow directions
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to safely operate ground support equipment
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Must meet airport security badge requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to job duties
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Ability to pass company background checks (criminal and motor vehicle), drug tests, meet airport background check requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction of employment
- Excellent vision and coordination with the ability to pass a color vision test for inspecting aviation fuel
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license
- Preferred three to six months experience and/or training in aviation, customer service or related field
- Excellent guest service skills with an energetic, outgoing, and guest-obsessed personality
- Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic
- Must be able to physically operate ground support equipment including fuel trucks and tugs
- Ability to carry out multi-step instructions and deal with standardized situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
- Strong multitasking ability
- Computer skills including the use of email and company software
- Ability to complete required training programs successfully and timely
Job Duties
- Work as part of a team to conduct airside operations safely and efficiently in accordance with established policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Collaborate, cooperate, and work closely with all team members, guests, clients, vendors, and aircraft crewmembers to ensure service needs are met
- Operate and drive ground service equipment such as fuel trucks, de-icing trucks, ground power units, tugs, stair trucks
- Load and unload luggage and other cargo into/out of aircraft and from/into the PAT, guest vehicle, or other mode of transportation
- Provide professional and friendly guest service while exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude
- Offer safe, convenient, and courteous transportation when driving shuttle vehicle to transport guests, luggage and cargo
- Maintain safe, clean, and secure ramps and operations
- Fuel handling, including fuel quality control, fuel receipt, inventory and maintaining accurate related documentation
- Understand, comply with, and enforce all operational, safety, and guest service requirements
- Stop work when an unsafe condition or act is likely to cause harm and report concerns accordingly
