Job Description
Signature Aviation operates the largest global network of private aviation terminals, with over 225 locations worldwide. As a premier hospitality organization and a certified Great Place to Work, Signature Aviation is committed to redefining private air travel by delivering safe, convenient, and elevated experiences to their guests. Their team of nearly 6,000 aviation experts and enthusiasts is dedicated to excellence and focused on taking care of their employees while serving their communities. The company provides extensive benefits, programs, and resources designed to support the well-being and professional development of their team members. Signature Aviation actively volunteers and contributes to the communities they serve, especially focused on elevating neighborhoods, empowering future aviation professionals, and supporting veterans.
The role of the Airside Experience Specialist is vital to the operation of the private aviation terminals. This position involves performing a variety of essential duties that ensure the safe and efficient provision of requested services for general aviation aircraft, their crews, and other guests. The Airside Experience Specialist routinely operates ground service equipment and follows the company's policies and procedures to deliver exceptional service. The specialist must be capable of working flexible schedules including nights, holidays, and weekends, often in varying weather conditions such as precipitation, extreme temperatures, jet engine fumes, dust, and noise. Tasks are performed both inside and outside near stationary and moving aircraft, including working safely around spinning propellers and engines.
Key responsibilities include collaborating and communicating clearly with team members, guests, clients, vendors, and aircraft crew to ensure seamless service delivery. This involves handling fueling, de-icing, lavatory, ground power, potable water services, aircraft parking, marshalling, wing walking, catering delivery, and towing. The specialist should proactively prepare for arriving and departing aircraft, identify open tasks, and immediately report any safety concerns. They are expected to operate various ground service equipment such as fuel trucks, de-icing trucks, tugs, stair trucks, and other vehicles, and safely load and unload luggage and cargo. Providing professional, friendly, and helpful guest service is paramount, ensuring guests consistently receive outstanding experiences.
In addition, the specialist is responsible for fueling operations including quality control, fuel receipt, inventory management, and maintaining accurate documentation. They must understand, comply with, and enforce all safety, operational, and security protocols including physical, cyber, and data security measures dictated by both Signature Aviation and airport authorities. The ability to stop work in unsafe conditions and report concerns appropriately is critical. The specialist is also required to follow emergency response procedures and maintain safe, clean, and secure ramp and operating areas.
This role demands excellent hospitality skills, critical thinking, multitasking, teamwork, and strong communication abilities. The Airside Experience Specialist must pass various background checks and drug tests, have excellent vision including the ability to pass a color vision test for inspecting aviation fuel, possess a valid driver’s license (and possibly a commercial driver’s license depending on location), and be legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction. Three to six months of experience or training in aviation, customer service, or related fields is preferred.
Joining Signature Aviation as an Airside Experience Specialist means becoming part of a global network committed to high standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Signature Aviation supports its team members with a range of benefits including 401(k), critical illness and accident insurance, identity theft protection, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive training and development, and employee assistance programs. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding career path in the private aviation industry, ideal for those passionate about aviation service and hospitality.
