The role of Airport Lounge Wait Staff at Sodexo within the prestigious Lufthansa Airlines Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) offers a unique opportunity for candidates passionate about delivering high-quality service in a dynamic airport environment. In this role, the Airport Lounge Wait Staff is responsible for providing attentive, efficient, and professional service aimed at exceeding customer expectations. The staff member will serve a variety of freshly made entrées, appetizers, desserts, and beverages according to Sodexo’s restaurant menu, ensuring a memorable dining experience for lounge guests. This includes greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, introducing any specials, informing guests about menu items including allergens, and making knowledgeable recommendations on meals and beverages.

The Wait Staff must accurately take and communicate orders to the kitchen while confirming details with guests and coordinate the correct sequence for serving. Ensuring the quality and presentation of every dish and beverage is critical to maintaining Sodexo’s standards of excellence. The staff member will constantly monitor guest needs, respond to requests promptly, and address any concerns or complaints with professionalism and tact to ensure complete satisfaction.

Physical demands of the role include significant walking or other mobility, standing for extended periods that may exceed eight hours per shift, and the ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift weights typically up to 35 pounds, with occasional requirements to lift or move up to 50 pounds. The role requires good manual dexterity, sensory capacities such as taste and smell, and the capability to perform repetitive motions. Reliability and punctuality in attendance are also essential.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience
  • Must be at or over the minimum age to serve alcohol based on local city and state regulations, if applicable
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods during shifts, which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to taste and smell
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Willingness to comply with site-specific requirements and assignments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience

  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards
  • If applicable, must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local regulations
  • May require alcohol-service certification such as TIPS or TEAM

Job Duties
