Job Description
ABM is one of the world’s leading providers of integrated facility, engineering, and infrastructure solutions. Founded with a mission to create cleaner, safer, and more efficient environments, ABM serves a diverse range of market sectors including commercial real estate, aviation, education, mission critical operations, manufacturing, and distribution. With a workforce exceeding 100,000 team members and annual revenues surpassing 8 billion dollars, ABM is recognized globally for delivering essential services that enhance the overall occupant experience.
Our expertise lies in providing innovative technologies and sustainable solutions that help clients build smarter, more connected spaces while fostering a healthier, thriving world. ABM is committed to equal employment opportunities and works diligently to create an inclusive workplace. The company supports veterans, individuals with disabilities, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to discrimination and accessibility. This environment not only benefits our clients but also fosters professional growth and development opportunities for our employees. We provide top-tier training programs and cultivate an atmosphere that values communication, safety, integrity, and teamwork.
The Cleaner role at ABM provides an excellent entry point for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce, especially those with limited experience or education. This position requires the cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of buildings and facilities adhere to the highest standards. No prior experience or formal education is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training is provided to all team members.
As a Cleaner, you will perform a variety of cleaning tasks that include dusting and cleaning furniture, fixtures, floors, ceilings, walls, machines, and equipment. You will maintain the appearance and cleanliness of interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning agents and tools like sponges and squeegees. The role also involves washing and replacing blinds as necessary.
Additionally, the job requires moving furniture and equipment, such as cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and machinery, either manually or with hand trucks, to ensure thorough cleaning of all areas. Restroom maintenance is another fundamental responsibility, including servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms. Gathering and emptying trash, wiping tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food service areas are also part of your daily duties.
Seasonal tasks play a vital role in this position as well, including sweeping outdoor walkways, raking leaves, cutting grass, and removing snow based on the time of year. Your role will also demand strict adherence to procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Communication is key in this role, requiring you to promptly notify management about any minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Above all, you must comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by ABM, clients, and regulatory authorities to maintain a safe and high-quality working environment.
ABM values effective communication and teamwork, encouraging strong relationships among clients, co-workers, coordinators, supervisors, and managers. The company also welcomes and encourages military veterans to apply, recognizing the skills and discipline developed during military service. Veterans with experience in Military Occupational Specialty Codes 92S, 92Y, LS, and DC will find this role aligns well with their backgrounds. ABM offers unparalleled training and growth opportunities, providing a meaningful career path beyond the initial Cleaner position.
Overall, this Cleaner role with ABM is more than just a job; it is a gateway to building a rewarding career within a respected global company dedicated to excellence and innovation in facility services.
