The role of Airport Ramp Agent at United Ground Express is a physically demanding and vital position that supports the seamless functioning of airport operations. With a pay rate of $16.50 per hour, this in-person role requires candidates to perform a variety of responsibilities including lifting and moving baggage, cargo, and boxes weighing up to 70 pounds, with some tasks potentially involving lifting more than 100 items per aircraft. Ramp Agents are responsible for pushing and pulling loaded and empty carts during the loading and unloading process, operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts, and performing cleaning and servicing duties inside the aircraft.

This position demands working outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures, requiring a high degree of physical stamina and agility. Candidates should be comfortable using technology such as computers, mobile devices, and radio communication equipment to coordinate with co-workers and flight crews effectively. Compliance with United Airlines and FAA safety regulations is crucial to ensure operations run smoothly and securely. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials vital for the position including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process which may include but not be limited to drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Available to work any shift
  • day or night, weekends, and holidays
  • mandatory overtime may be required based on operational need
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
  • Must be able to use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Able to perform a variety of physical activities including pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US state driver’s license (suspended, expired, revoked, or denied licenses are not valid)

Job Duties

  • Lift baggage weighing up to 70 lbs during shifts
  • Lift over 100 items for a single aircraft
  • Push and pull loaded and empty carts during loading and unloading
  • Ascend and descend jet-way stairs carrying baggage
  • Bend, stoop, and crawl to move and stack cargo in aircraft
  • Drive ground equipment like tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts
  • Clean interior of aircraft and service lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Prepare and secure aircraft for next flight
  • Ensure compliance with United and FAA regulations
  • Use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers and flight crew
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
