The role of Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager at Sodexo is an exciting opportunity to join their elite team at the Alaska Airlines Lounge located at LAX International Airport in Los Angeles, CA. This full-time, hourly position is designed for a seasoned culinary professional with a passion for creating upscale dining experiences in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing kitchen operations within the lounge, overseeing food production, purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, and food cost analysis.

As a hands-on Chef role, this position requires a well-rounded individual with an eclectic menu knowledge and experience in catering and event execution. The Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager will be expected to uphold Sodexo's culinary standards, ensuring recipe compliance and food quality while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation procedures. Empowering and motivating the culinary team to embrace these standards and fostering a collaborative work culture are critical components of this role.

Job Requirements

  • minimum education requirement - high school diploma, ged or equivalent experience
  • must be able to pass a TSA background check and obtain an airport badge

Job Qualifications

  • a strong culinary background with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends
  • 2-3 years of kitchen manager or sous chef level management experience
  • safety and sanitation expert, servsafe certified
  • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards
  • strong coaching and employee development skills
  • have a passion for food and innovation

Job Duties

  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting
  • ensure Sodexo culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary policy and procedure
  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
