Job Description
KBR's Missile, Aviation, and Ground Systems (MAGS) division is a leading provider of mission engineering solutions that support critical U.S. Army programs. Specializing in aviation and ground systems, integrated air and missile defense, as well as threat and target systems, MAGS plays a crucial role in enhancing national security. KBR is a trusted partner of the U.S. Department of War, delivering innovative, technology-driven solutions worldwide. The company operates with a strong ethical framework and global presence to ensure secure, effective, and mission-ready capabilities that meet the evolving demands of military operations.
The Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Exercise Planner position at KBR is integral to the development, planning, and execution of Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC) Large Scale Combat Operation (LSCO) exercises. This role focuses on creating robust, reliable, and dynamic exercise-related products that allow Army Air Defense commanders, staff, and units to train effectively in operationally relevant environments. These environments include live, virtual, and constructive settings designed to simulate multi-domain operations from battery to theater level.
As an AMD exercise planner, you will serve as the lead contractor planner and liaison for warfighter exercise planning and execution in support of the 32d AAMDC. Your responsibilities include providing analytical support for various exercises such as table-top exercises, Mission Rehearsal Exercises, Culminating Training Events, Joint Kill Chain Exercises, Warfighter Exercises, and sustainment training events. You will support the integration of AMD capabilities into Warfighter Exercise (WFX) design and structure in line with command guidance and coordinate with 32d AAMDC Action Officers on exercise planning, scenario development, and scripting.
This role requires you to plan, organize, and prepare exercise products that facilitate joint air and missile defense operations within the LSCO exercise environment. Attendance at all WFX planning events is mandatory, where you will prioritize team efforts to support the exercise development process. You will maintain overall oversight of supported events, making recommendations related to exercise design, training environment, and the integration of simulations and simulators.
Technical and tactical expertise is essential as you assist in implementing the 32d AAMDC Commander’s training guidance, developing strategies, and supporting the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) through planning, preparing, executing, and assessing training exercises. Your role also involves knowledge management, where you develop procedures to capture and archive lessons learned, best practices, and relevant data derived from the JELC process. This includes managing exercise design and execution documentation.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing, refining, and maintaining standard operating procedures and best practices that support 32d AAMDC LSCO exercises. Keeping abreast of current and emerging U.S., NATO, and other potential capabilities and tactics is vital. As a subject matter expert, you will contribute to doctrine, exercise control activities, Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) development and execution, and the design and construct development for training events, exercises, and culminating training events.
Additional duties include supporting the Joint Training Program by developing plans, contributing to knowledge management, reviewing doctrine, providing conference support, and handling related administrative tasks. The position requires eligibility for a SECRET Security clearance, a Bachelor's degree preferably in a STEM field, and over seven years of experience in Air Defense Artillery (ADA) operations with at least four years at the battalion or brigade level as a 14A. Preferred qualifications include exercise design experience, deep knowledge of the JELC, training management, joint planning processes, air battle management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
KBR fosters a People First culture centered around the values of Belong, Connect, and Grow, committed to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment. KBR is an equal opportunity employer providing employment consideration without regard to race, color, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, veteran status, genetic information, union status, or any other protected characteristic by law. The opportunity at KBR offers not only a challenging and impactful role but also a workplace dedicated to inclusion, teamwork, and professional growth.
