Kaiser Permanente is a leading integrated managed care consortium, widely recognized for its commitment to quality health care, innovation, and comprehensive wellness services. Established with a mission to provide high-quality health care services and improve the lives of the communities it serves, Kaiser Permanente operates numerous medical facilities, hospitals, and clinics across the United States. The organization is well-known for fostering a respectful, inclusive, and diverse work environment that values its employees and promotes professional growth and development. This position is based at the Sunnybrook Medical Offices located in Clackamas, Oregon, and is part of the Facility Services & Materials Management Department within Environmental Services unit which plays an essential role in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
This full-time, standard employment opportunity is scheduled for an evening shift from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Friday, offering a consistent 40-hour work week. The role falls under the union affiliation of SEIU Local 49 and is considered an individual contributor level position. As a Housekeeping Supervisor at Kaiser Permanente, you will perform a variety of housekeeping responsibilities under indirect supervision with an emphasis on maintaining the hygiene and sanitation of the assigned areas of the medical facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily housekeeping operations, ensuring the facility meets established cleaning and safety standards, and providing leadership, guidance, and training to the housekeeping staff. This includes managing work schedules, monitoring supplies and equipment, and making recommendations to the supervisor about staffing needs, supplies, equipment, and performance standards.
The role includes hands-on duties such as cleaning environmental surfaces (walls, floors, ceilings, windows, sinks, fixtures, and furniture) using approved cleaning agents in a safe manner; operating equipment including dust mops, wet and dry vacuums, buffers, and carpet cleaners; replenishing consumable supplies like soap and towels; handling waste and soiled linens properly and maintaining common areas clean and orderly. Moreover, you will conduct routine inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health sanitation regulations. You will also serve as a key resource for staffing and supply management, training employees on the proper use of equipment and efficient cleaning techniques, and staying current with new cleaning methods and products to maintain the facility’s highest standards.
This role demands excellent communication capabilities, proven experience in janitorial work with a preference for commercial or medical settings, a reliable work ethic, and the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively without direct supervision. Being or becoming a member of Local 49 is required for this position, reflecting the importance of union collaboration in maintaining workplace standards. Kaiser Permanente offers a supportive cultural environment where dependability, safety, and quality are paramount. As an equal opportunity employer, Kaiser Permanente welcomes applications without regard to race, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected categories, underscoring its commitment to fair and inclusive workplaces.
