Job Description

Suffolk is a leading national enterprise that excels in building, innovating, and investing across the construction and real estate industries. With an impressive annual revenue exceeding nine billion dollars and a workforce of 3,000 employees spread across 17 offices nationwide, including Boston headquarters and major cities such as New York City, Miami, Dallas, and Los Angeles, Suffolk stands as a powerhouse in the construction management sector. The company integrates core construction management services with complementary business lines like real estate investment, design, self-perform construction, and technology startup investments (notably Suffolk Technologies). This dynamic approach enables Suffolk to deliver value throughout every phase of the project lifecycle.

Suffolk is renowned for transforming complex projects into smarter, more predictable outcomes by leveraging cutting-edge technology, including data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the advanced capabilities of Suffolk’s proprietary Seamless Platform. This platform connects design, construction, and operational workflows, redefining how modern America builds by enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration across teams. Suffolk’s prominence is reflected by its ranking as number 8 on ENR's list of Top CM-at-Risk Contractors and its expansive portfolio serving sectors such as healthcare, education, aviation, government, and commercial development.

The AI Engineer role at Suffolk’s AI Studio in Boston offers an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in construction management. This position specifically focuses on transforming how artificial intelligence powers construction operations by building scalable and high-performance AI agents that address essential pain points in project reporting, RFIs, materials tracking, and lookahead planning. Working intimately with product managers, site AI engineers, and data engineers, the AI Engineer designs and deploys AI solutions using state-of-the-art tools including AWS Bedrock, Databricks, and LangChain, among others.

As an AI Engineer, you will hold responsibility for full lifecycle delivery of AI product engineering, from translating product requirements to production deployment. You will create multi-model agent frameworks that dynamically adapt task execution using large language models such as Claude, GPT, Llama, and Titan. This role emphasizes developing multi-agent orchestration frameworks that enable specialist agents to collaborate efficiently to complete complex construction workflows. The engineer’s hands-on technical work spans full stack and backend development, data engineering, integration, DevOps automation, and platform reliability.

The position demands collaboration in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to rapidly iterate on features that redefine the construction site of the future. You'll develop secure, reliable backends using Python, FastAPI, and AWS SDKs; design ETL pipelines to streamline data flow between enterprise systems and advanced AI tools via Databricks; and establish robust CI/CD and infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitHub Actions. The role also involves shaping governance policies around security, cost monitoring, model versioning, and performance optimization to maintain a world-class AI development environment.

Suffolk believes in providing a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support employees physically, emotionally, and financially. Employees gain access to competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support, paid time off, 401(k) with employer matching, life insurance, tax-deferred savings accounts, commuter benefits, and additional supports such as backup daycare days and virtual care services. This package highlights Suffolk's commitment to sustaining its workforce’s well-being and professional development.

Joining Suffolk means engaging in a culture that values equality and inclusion, providing equal opportunities to all applicants without discrimination. The company’s extensive focus on technology innovation combined with its dedication to employee support makes it an optimum place for AI engineers passionate about harnessing AI to revolutionize construction management.
