The role of Area Business Travel Sales Manager (ABTSM) at AHC Hospitality is a full-time position requiring weekend availability and offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K, paid vacation, discounted downtown parking, free employee meals, and exclusive hotel and restaurant discounts. The ABTSM is charged with building and maintaining a profitable client base focused on corporate individual travel and contract business through both outside and inside direct sales efforts. This key sales leadership role involves cultivating strong client relationships to ensure consistent revenue growth and market share expansion in the Greater Grand Rapids market. The successful candidate will develop strategic and tactical sales plans, implement client entertainment initiatives, and participate in networking and industry events to generate demand. Proficiency in negotiating contracts, guest room rates, and crafting innovative proposals to meet client needs is essential. An analytical mindset is necessary to monitor market trends and internal account production using reports and data analysis. Overall, this highly visible position demands an aggressive, outgoing, and results-oriented professional with thorough knowledge of local market dynamics and hotel sales practices. Job Requirements

  • must be able to close sales and meet aggressive business travel sales targets
  • bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • weekend availability for full-time position
  • ability to stand and walk regularly
  • ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects
  • frequent reaching with hands and arms
  • ability to talk or hear
  • occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • close, distance, and peripheral vision required
  • self-motivated with a pleasant personality
  • aggressive and outgoing personality
  • thorough knowledge of sales techniques
  • ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel
  • must become familiar with hotel layout, products, services, amenities, and history

Job Qualifications

  • 4+ years hotel sales experience
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • knowledge of and familiarity with the Grand Rapids market
  • previous experience with Agency360
  • previous Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt sales experience
  • ability to develop strategic plans for business and contract travel markets
  • strong negotiation skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ability to present onsite and in the field to prospective clients
  • active involvement in local community for business development

Job Duties
