The Strategic Marketing Manager (SMM) role within Carmeuse North America focuses specifically on the milled limestone product segment. This position demands a highly strategic individual capable of translating corporate strategy into actionable marketing and business development plans. As the SMM, you will develop, implement, and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align closely with sales goals and the broader corporate objectives. The role is central to driving revenue growth and expanding profit margins by identifying new market opportunities and maximizing the potential within existing customer accounts. Key markets include industries such as animal feed, roofing, glass manufacturing, and flue gas treatment. This responsibility entails working collaboratively with internal teams such as Sales, Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Operations to shape and execute marketing initiatives that create focus, drive awareness, build brand trust, and ultimately increase sales across the operating region.
The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of milled or pulverized limestone products and related industry applications. They must be adept at strategic planning, market development, and translating customer insights into effective marketing strategies. The position involves extensive market research, competitive analysis, and the application of market intelligence to steer growth organically and through possible acquisitions. The role requires continuous monitoring and analyzing of marketing initiatives' performance against company goals, providing insights to refine and enhance marketing effectiveness.
As part of the position’s responsibilities, you will be defining go-to-market strategies for new product introductions and existing solutions, crafting pricing and margin strategies and developing sales enablement tools to support sales teams. Brand positioning and thought leadership development are also key components of the role, along with close collaboration with the Marketing Communications team to produce content that amplifies brand awareness and lead generation.
The Strategic Marketing Manager is expected to travel between 25% and 50% across the U.S. and Canada, engaging directly with customers and prospects to gather actionable feedback and build strong relationships that inform strategic decisions. To qualify, candidates typically have a bachelor’s degree (an MBA is advantageous) and over 10 years of relevant experience in strategic marketing, business development, or corporate strategy, particularly within raw materials and the milled limestone market segments. Job Duties
- Develop extensive understanding of key markets for milled limestone products including animal feed, roofing, glass, and flue gas treatment
- Collaborate with Commercial management to develop and execute detailed marketing plans aligned with business objectives
- Support business growth and product development initiatives through market research and business case creation
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, customer segments, and competitive threats
- Collaborate with Sales to build strong customer relationships and translate voice of customer feedback into actionable strategies
- Conduct market research, customer analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform strategic decisions
- Define and implement go-to-market plans for new and existing solutions including value propositions and pricing strategies
- Develop sales enablement tools, presentations, and training materials
- Strengthen brand positioning through strategic messaging and thought leadership
- Partner with Marketing Communications to develop content strategies, campaigns, and digital assets
