Job Description
Aggreko is a global leader in providing temporary power, heating, cooling, and oil-free air solutions across a wide array of industries and applications. Serving customers ranging from world-class events such as the NFL, NBA, golf tournaments, and college sports to essential utilities operations, mining sites, and remote communities, Aggreko ensures that its clients experience continuous, reliable energy without interruption. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and safety, Aggreko has established itself as a trusted partner in the energy and environmental services sectors, delivering customized solutions that meet complex technical requirements and stringent timelines. Their comprehensive portfolio includes state-of-the-art generators, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC systems, and specialized compressed air technology, making them the go-to provider for critical, temporary energy needs.
As a Technician 1 specializing in Temporary Control or Power at Aggreko, you will play a key role in supporting their elite technician team to execute a variety of projects. These projects span from major broadcast events that demand flawless power and cooling support, such as live sports and media productions with networks like ESPN, NBC, and CBS, to industrial utility customers and refinery turnaround teams. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in dynamic environments where precision, responsiveness, and technical expertise are essential.
In this home-based role, you will have the flexibility to be based in any US city that has a major airport, with travel commitments of up to 75 percent. The role requires hands-on installation, commissioning, servicing, and repair of Aggreko's generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC systems, and oil-free air systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues both at event sites and in service centers, ensuring that operations run smoothly and on schedule. Your work will be highly client-facing, requiring professional communication skills and the ability to liaise with technical managers from broadcast companies to meet their unique site setup requirements and timelines.
You will also engage in advanced technical tasks such as calculating nominal and effective tonnage or power requirements in kilowatts, reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals, as well as performing minor repairs and major overhauls while adhering to safety standards including OSHA and EPA regulations. An important aspect of this role involves interfacing with a remote operations center to support proactive notifications and prevent equipment failures, ensuring compliance and operational continuity.
Aggreko emphasizes a safety-focused culture and offers robust technical training programs, both virtual and in-person, covering a wide array of technologies such as diesel engines, gas systems, compressed air, electrical controls, oil-free compressors, HVAC, microgrids, and energy storage. The company also supports career advancement through tuition reimbursement and encourages employee growth within their innovative environment. Compensation for this role ranges from $30 to $45 per hour, with additional travel allowances, potential overtime, and weekend work. An annual bonus program and premium medical plan options are also available benefits, making this an exciting and rewarding opportunity for skilled technicians who are resilient, positive, and ready to bring energy to the world alongside a passionate team.
