Job Description
Aggreko is a global leader in temporary power generation, temperature control, and related services, dedicated to keeping energy flowing seamlessly for a vast array of industries and events. Whether supporting world-class sporting events, assisting utilities in peak demand periods, or enabling continuous operation in remote mining operations and communities, Aggreko’s mission is to deliver reliable, efficient, and cutting-edge energy solutions. Built on innovation, experience, and a commitment to customer service, Aggreko operates across multiple continents, leveraging a vast fleet of generators, HVAC equipment, and oil-free air systems. Its clients range from major broadcast networks and sports leagues to industrial customers requiring dependable power and temperature control for critical operations that cannot afford interruption.
The Technician 1 position within Aggreko’s Temporary Control or Power division offers a unique opportunity to join an elite technical team focused on providing specialized services for a wide range of markets, including events, utilities, and refineries. Technicians support high-profile live broadcast events such as NFL, NBA, college sports, and major golf tournaments by ensuring flawless power delivery tailored to the complex needs of broadcast networks like ESPN, NBC, and CBS. Beyond event services, technicians undertake installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs for Aggreko generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution systems, HVAC units, and oil-free air systems. This role demands technical proficiency in troubleshooting equipment failures, interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, managing minor repairs and major overhauls on schedule, and maintaining comprehensive safety standards in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
Technicians serve as primary client-facing representatives at on-site locations, interacting confidently and professionally with technical managers from broadcast companies and other high-profile customers. They employ mathematical formulas to assess nominal and effective tonnage and power requirements while working in close coordination with remote operations centers to prevent equipment failures and design proactive notifications. Extensive travel up to 75% is required, reflecting the dynamic nature of assignments that range from short-term high-profile sports events to long-term industrial projects. The position is home-based, flexible, and offers a competitive pay range of $30 to $45 per hour commensurate with experience, alongside overtime and weekend opportunities. A travel allowance of $2.50 per hour and an annual bonus program are included to reward dedication and excellence.
Aggreko prides itself on its robust technical training programs, available both virtually and in person, covering diesel, gas, compressed air, electrical systems, controls, oil-free air compressors, HVAC, microgrid and storage technologies, among others. Committed to fostering career growth, the company also offers tuition reimbursement programs. Additionally, Aggreko emphasizes a safety-focused culture and the opportunity to work with brand-new technology across all levels of the organization. This role is a prime opportunity for motivated individuals who embody a positive, resilient, can-do attitude and who want to build a rewarding career in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment. Aggreko also highlights its commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion by welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life and ensuring a fair and unbiased recruitment process based solely on qualifications and experience.
