Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in a similarly licensed program
  • at least 1 year of supervisory or management experience
  • must be at least 21 years old
  • bachelor's or Associate's Degree required
  • bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Education preferred
  • general computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • must meet Texas Department of Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing requirements
  • reliable transportation
  • must be available to work Monday through Friday
  • must pass state and national background check
  • must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and be on feet for long periods
  • bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Oversee the development and facilitation of their school site
  • assume full responsibility for all aspects of the site including program implementation, facilities operation, program/community relations, and staff development
  • manage daily operations and assist teachers in mentoring children
  • provide guidance and support to assistant teachers
  • create an enjoyable and safe environment for students and staff
  • manage program staff and ensure adherence to CDC policies and licensing standards
  • attend special events to promote the program
  • cultivate and maintain positive relationships with families, school leaders, licensing authorities, and staff
  • create developmentally appropriate lesson plans and quality activities aligned with Texas Rising Star program
  • ensure lesson plans are implemented by assistant teachers
  • create monthly newsletters for families
  • provide lunch monitoring on-site
  • maintain compliance with Texas Rising Star and licensing standards
