Job Description
The Child Development Center (CDC) is a highly respected private, not-for-profit preschool located in Southwest Austin, known for its commitment to excellence in early childhood education. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and recognized as a 4 Star Texas Rising Star program, the CDC has established strong partnerships with the Austin Independent School District (AISD), offering various educational opportunities including unique inclusion classrooms, after-school programs, and summer camps for school-age children. This reputable organization is deeply invested in fostering a nurturing and enriching environment where children can develop essential academic and social skills, grounded in core values such as character, respect, empowerment, and wonder. The CDC's approach is holistic, aiming to create a safe, fun, and educationally stimulating atmosphere for all its students.
We are currently seeking a full-time After School Site Director for our licensed After School CREW Program, specifically serving elementary students at one of the 11 schools located in Southwest Austin. This salaried exempt position offers an excellent career opportunity for an energetic and organized leader passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children. The role demands a hands-on approach to daily operations management including staff supervision, program development, and fostering strong community and school partnerships.
The After School Site Director will be responsible for overseeing every facet of their school site’s after-school program. This includes managing assistant teachers, ensuring compliance with CDC policies and licensing standards, and cultivating an environment where children are engaged in high-quality enrichment activities that promote both personal growth and community values. The Site Director is pivotal in creating a safe, welcoming space for students and staff alike, directly contributing to the positive experience that aligns with the CDC’s core values. This role requires excellent organizational and leadership skills, along with a compassionate approach to mentorship and operations.
The position runs full-time throughout the school year, from August through May, Monday through Friday, with hours typically 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The summer schedule varies. The starting salary is $55,000 plus, dependent on education and experience, and is complemented by a robust benefits package including over 20 paid holidays, generous paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance with employer contributions, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with matching after one year, paid parental leave after three years, paid training opportunities, and CPR/First Aid certification. This career path also promises a professional and friendly work environment with opportunities for growth and advancement.
Working with the CDC as a Site Director is an opportunity to lead a well-established, impactful after-school program in Austin’s community. Candidates with experience in education and management who also possess strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for children’s enrichment and development will find it a rewarding role with meaningful impact.
