The position of Bartender Supervisor is a key role within Adventureland's food and beverage department, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of one or more bar locations throughout the park.
The Bartender Supervisor oversees a team of bartenders and other assigned hosts, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe daily operations. This includes supervising food safety, sanitation, guest service, food preparation, inventory control, and financial transaction monitoring. The supervisor also handles recruiting, scheduling, training, and performance management to maintain high standards and alignment with the company’s core values.
This role requires leadership skills demonstrated by leading through positive example, mentoring hosts, and ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations as well as company procedures. The supervisor is also expected to handle escalated guest concerns professionally, maintain quality controls, and foster an environment where every guest interaction enhances the Adventureland experience.
This position is seasonal and demands flexibility, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa child labor laws
- ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts
- ability to comply with all uniform policies
- must possess safety-oriented mindset and understand importance of complying with all state and local food preparation and serving regulations
- must possess exceptional customer service skills with ability to resolve questions and concerns professionally
- must be able to speak with guests directly in absence of other F&B leadership
- ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet demands of constant deadlines
- must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- must possess strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- previous experience with POS technology and PCI compliance a plus
- ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of workday
- ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
- ability to withstand heat and humidity from food preparation equipment
- ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 40 pounds or more
- role based in indoor and outdoor food stall or restaurant locations
- subject to frequent interruptions and requests
- frequent exposure to variable weather conditions including heat, cold, sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, and ice
- subject to repetitive motion and high noise levels
Job Qualifications
- No education requirements
- 1+ years of previous work experience in food service, quick service, or restaurant setting
- 1+ previous supervisory experience a plus, preferably in food or restaurant setting
- previous amusement park, theme park, or waterpark experience a plus
- must be bartender/server certified (TIPS) or become so within 30 days of hire when required by state and local guidelines
- ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus
Job Duties
- Supervise the daily operations of the bartending team and any other assigned departments
- lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adventureland's core values
- act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts
- become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all assigned bar positions and backfill when needed
- participate in hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline of assigned hosts
- ensure all required meal and other breaks are given in accordance with Iowa law
- assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
- welcome all guests with a smile and positive attitude
- perform opening and closing procedures including food preparation and cleanup
- practice, teach and enforce proper food safety guidelines
- adhere to all bar-related TIPS safety training protocols
- maintain compliance with company and industry best practices to create a safe environment
- handle and resolve escalated guest concerns
- oversee quality controls and production of food items
- manage inventory focusing on portion and waste controls
- interface with warehouse on product and supply needs
- interface with maintenance on all equipment or physical plant needs
- utilize POS and registers to accurately run tabs and prepare checks
- complete all other duties assigned by leadership
