Job Description
Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting families affected by pediatric cancer through both financial and emotional assistance. Since its inception, CCS has dedicated itself to creating meaningful, life-changing experiences for children battling cancer and their families. The organization achieves its mission through various fundraising events, wish-granting experiences, and strategic partnerships, aiming to offer support when families need it most. CCS is led by its official spokes-bear, Adventure Ted, a beloved mascot who symbolizes hope and courage for children and families involved with the organization. As a national nonprofit, CCS maintains a strong network of supporters, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure its events and programs deliver impactful outcomes across the country.
CCS is currently preparing for two major upcoming initiatives: a high-profile charity golf outing hosted at the prestigious Trump National Golf Club, and an annual fundraising dinner event featuring the Mayor of Saddle River, NJ. These flagship events are critical to the organization’s fundraising goals and community outreach. To support these initiatives, CCS is assembling a select, performance-driven group known as the Adventure Ted Partnerships & Events Council. This council will play a pivotal role in driving outreach efforts, developing sponsorships, and enhancing community engagement.
The role within the Adventure Ted Partnerships & Events Council offers participants unique, hands-on experience in communication, relationship building, and event coordination. Unlike traditional internships focused on observation or administrative tasks, this opportunity is centered on ownership, real-time execution, and measurable results. Members of the council will work closely with the Founder and Chief Media Officer of CCS to contribute toward securing sponsor commitments, managing partner relationships, assisting with event execution, and driving strategic community involvement. This dynamic position requires confident communicators who are comfortable engaging with local businesses, venues, and service providers to secure sponsorships and auction items.
Council members will also collaborate with CCS’s Communications and Creative teams to ensure outreach efforts align seamlessly with broader event strategies. They will join in structured team planning sessions, offering their own ideas for new partnerships and engagement opportunities. This collaborative environment provides valuable exposure to high-level events, sponsors, and impactful nonprofit work.
Ideal candidates for this role are self-starters motivated by ownership and real-world professional experience. They have a passion for contributing to mission-driven work and an interest in partnerships, business development, social media, or event strategy. The role requires availability for approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, including mandatory weekly virtual meetings on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM EST. These meetings feature C-suite alignment discussions and live execution sessions, ensuring ongoing priority-setting and progress toward organizational goals.
Participants can expect a selective and performance-based environment where continued involvement depends on consistent execution and proactive communication. The Adventure Ted Partnerships & Events Council also offers growth and advancement opportunities. Top performers may be invited to join the organization beyond the initial term as Associates or be considered for the Adventure Ted Brand Ambassador program, which is a paid, performance-driven role tied to revenue-generating initiatives. Additionally, the internship is eligible for credit in Communications, Social Media, Marketing, and Media-related programs, with CCS providing support for necessary documentation.
Overall, this opportunity is uniquely suited for motivated individuals looking to gain significant nonprofit, partnership development, and event management experience while making a meaningful contribution to families impacted by pediatric cancer.
