The Technician role within KEMET’s Advanced Material Development Group at the Simpsonville, SC location offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the research and development of next-generation capacitor polymer materials. This full-time, first-shift position involves supporting R&D laboratory initiatives focused on polymerization reactions, polymer coating formulations, and capacitor performance testing. The Technician will be instrumental in performing experiments and analytical characterizations to improve capacitor technology, working closely with research scientists to prioritize and accomplish testing objectives. This role demands a hands-on approach to conducting experiments independently with minimal supervision, maintaining lab equipment, and enhancing analytical measurement systems. Job Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, materials science preferred
  • Relevant work experience in laboratory or production setting
  • Hands-on knowledge of general chemistry and lab techniques
  • Familiarity with chemical experiments, formulations, purification, and analytical techniques
  • Experience with computer-based lab operation and data analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Self-driven with problem-solving capability

Job Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Materials Science
  • Knowledge of chemistry and lab techniques including chemical experiments, formulation, purification, and analytical procedures
  • Experience working in lab environments involving reactions, formulations, production, or manufacturing handling analytical or production equipment
  • Proficiency with computer-based systems including MS Office and statistics software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong curiosity and passion for problem solving

Job Duties

  • Provide R & D laboratory support for polymer development in polymerization reactions, polymer coating formulations, polymer dip coating, capacitor testing, and characterizations
  • Plan and conduct experiments independently, collect necessary data, organize and record data, share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed
  • Interface with research investigators in materials group to set objectives and priorities for tests
  • Ensure laboratory and analytical measurement systems are well maintained and make upgrades as required
  • Collaborate with production floor to align development with manufacturing needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
  • Comply with safety and quality standards in the lab environment
