This role is for an Advance Urgent Care (AUC) Hospital Rounder - Nocturnist at MAPMG’s South Baltimore Medical Center. The position involves covering overnight shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. in the Extended Monitoring Unit (EMU), part of the advanced urgent care setting. The nocturnist acts as an observational hospitalist, promptly evaluating and managing patients overnight using evidence-based clinical pathways to decide the most appropriate level of care. They will assess patients for discharge, continued observation, hospital admission, or alternative care placements such as Advanced Care at Home (ACAH) and other post-acute resources. This role requires collaboration with emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, consultants, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services to ensure timely and coordinated patient care and disposition.

The nocturnist facilitates efficient patient throughput by coordinating diagnostic testing, specialty consultations, and smooth transitions of care, all while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, quality, and experience. This position demands independent work overnight while collaborating with Hospital Medicine and Emergency Department teams for seamless continuity of care. The EMU schedule includes potential 7 on 7 off rotations, with approximately 14 shifts per month, and opportunities to work at both the South Baltimore Medical Center and the Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center.
