Job Description

Gateway Adult Residential Care is a dedicated provider of compassionate care within multiple 24/7 residential care facilities that serve adults facing mental health challenges. These challenges include Dementia, Alzheimer's, brain injuries, behavioral difficulties, and other aging-related needs. Gateway focuses on fostering a supportive and nurturing sanctuary for individuals who require specialized care and attentive services. With a mission grounded in compassion, empathy, and respect, Gateway is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents by creating environments that promote comfort, dignity, and community engagement. Gateway Adult Residential Care operates out of Gateway Gardens located at 178 Commons Drive in Eugene, OR, and employs a full-time activities assistant offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.50 to $22.91, depending on experience. Additionally, a $1,000 sign-on bonus may be available if applicable.

The role of Activities Assistant at Gateway Adult Residential Care is integral to the well-being and happiness of the residents. Reporting directly to the Activity Director, the assistant will play a key role in planning, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating daily, weekly, and monthly events designed to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and creative needs of residents. This position encourages socialization, relaxation, recreation, and community spirit among residents through a wide range of thoughtfully curated activities. The job involves a dynamic balance of logistical coordination, hands-on facilitation, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. A vital part of the role includes designing activities suitable for residents with diverse and specific needs, such as those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Activities help foster a purposeful and engaging living environment, significantly improving the quality of life for residents.

The Activities Assistant will be responsible for managing logistics such as communications, event advertising, inventory control, budgeting, volunteer training, and coordination of transportation. This ensures that all events run smoothly, timely, and effectively, within the allocated budget. Maintaining records to track participation, feedback, and any incidents is essential to continually tailor the activities to be person-centered and improve the program's impact. Safety compliance is a top priority, as the role requires vigilance in reporting medical concerns, suspected abuse, and adherence to safety procedures to protect residents.

Additionally, administrative duties like maintaining the activity space, organizing supplies, providing transportation, and participating in training and staff meetings are key components of this position. Candidates with prior experience or education related to nursing, recreational activities, or event planning are preferred, especially those familiar with working with dementia patients or in adult residential care facilities. This role demands physical stamina, interpersonal skills, and a compassionate attitude toward seniors and individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Gateway Adult Residential Care values its employees and offers comprehensive health and wellness benefits, continuous professional development, and a supportive working environment that prioritizes personal and career growth while making a meaningful impact in people's lives.
