The Administrative Specialist/Receptionist role at DLA Piper’s Houston office is integral in maintaining seamless office operations and supporting the firm’s strategic initiatives. This position is pivotal in providing standard receptionist services, including answering the main office phone line, greeting guests, and scheduling conference rooms and hospitality services. Besides the core receptionist responsibilities, this role extends to facilities coordination, assisting with event planning, project support, and potentially acting as the sole operations presence in the Houston office. The role requires multitasking and organizational skills to handle varied duties such as managing office badge issuance, coordinating catering orders, maintaining daily notices, liaising with property management, and processing invoices. The Administrative Specialist is also entrusted with sustainability leadership for one or more offices, showcasing DLA Piper’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Candidates joining DLA Piper must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, attorneys, and clients. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing demands, and maintain quality and timely work output is crucial. Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with additional administrative or computer training preferred. At least one year of previous administrative support experience is desirable to ensure readiness for this multifaceted role.

DLA Piper values its employees and fosters positive work relationships while expecting adherence to firm policies and high professional standards. The firm offers the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing employees to balance in-office work with remote duties, subject to managerial discretion. Recognizing the varied physical demands of the job, DLA Piper outlines that this position involves mostly sedentary work but includes necessary interactions that require physical activity.

In summary, the Administrative Specialist/Receptionist at DLA Piper is more than a traditional receptionist role; it is a dynamic position contributing to the smooth operation and positive culture of the Houston office.
