Job Duties
- Implementing and monitoring programs and practices for the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care for patients and their families
- Ensuring consistent application of nursing services policies and standards throughout the organization
- Monitoring patient outcomes and quality and effectiveness of nursing care
- Overseeing performance of managers and teams
- Identifying and addressing staff training and development needs
- Collaborating with medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies
- Creating, monitoring, and analyzing budgets explaining variances
- Conducting ongoing evaluation of productivity forecasting future revenue and expenses
- Documenting capital appropriations and project authorizations
- Evaluating and specifying critical resources required to accomplish team's objectives
- Initiating requests for required resources based on staff competency and patient acuity
- Allocating team resources responsibly and equitably within labor law scopes
- Calculating resource usage and discovering opportunities to improve utilization
- Implementing changes in roles consistent with scope of practice
- Anticipating and planning for patient flow needs
- Resolving conflicts including workload allocation and schedule overlap
- Adjusting management and personal style to fit different situations
- Exploring motivational factors and tailoring efforts to individual and departmental needs
