The Culinary Arts Department at Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty through adjunct faculty positions. These roles are ideal for individuals passionate about teaching and sharing their expertise in culinary arts on a part-time, temporary basis. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering effective instruction in assigned courses at various locations. Although openings for these positions may or may not be currently available, qualified applicants may be contacted in the future after a review of their qualifications. This role demands a commitment to educational excellence, a focus on student success, and the ability to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

As a part-time adjunct faculty member in the Culinary Arts Department, the instructor will be expected to guide and instruct students effectively, maintain accurate records of student work and attendance, and prepare thoroughly for each class session. Faculty members will also be responsible for grading student assignments promptly, providing counsel regarding academic progress, and designing curriculum aligned with course goals. The role includes constructing classroom materials that support learning objectives and staying current with the latest teaching technologies and methodologies. Professional development participation is encouraged to enhance instructional skills and adapt to evolving educational standards. Job Requirements

  • Requires an associate's degree in the teaching discipline
  • Unofficial transcripts must be attached with the online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application
  • If transcripts are not submitted, application may not receive full consideration

  • Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
  • Maintains a safe, collaborative and respectful working environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge and familiarity with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Blackboard
  • Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Job Duties

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional class period

  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

  • Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible
