Job Description

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) is a publicly supported educational institution located in New Jersey, serving the communities of West Windsor and Trenton through its two campuses: the James Kerney Campus in Trenton and a larger suburban campus just six miles north of Trenton. Known for its commitment to student success, diversity, and open access, MCCC offers a welcoming and supportive environment that blends the resources of a larger college with the personalized feel of a community-based institution. With over 69 degree program options and 35 credit certificates, the college provides wide-ranging academic and professional study opportunities for students from various socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

MCCC is currently seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to join its Business, Technology & Professional Studies department under the Academic Affairs division. This role is part-time and adjunct in nature, offering instructional hours-based pay with a minimum of $1,009 per credit taught. The successful candidate will contribute to the college’s educational mission by delivering classroom and hybrid instruction, mentoring and advising students, and utilizing modern educational technologies and resources. Adjunct faculty at MCCC play an essential role in fostering student engagement, academic achievement, and supporting a diverse community of learners. The position offers flexible teaching opportunities including day, evening, and weekend classes across the academic calendar with year-round teaching prospects based on institutional need.

The adjunct faculty member will teach courses related to the hospitality or culinary areas, emphasizing real-world industry standards, food safety, and sanitation principles. Instructional methods include lecture-style classroom teaching enhanced by technology tools such as computer-generated presentations, videos, and online course platforms like Blackboard. Hands-on lab supervision and assessment of student progress are also critical components of this position. Additionally, this role requires participation in adjunct faculty duties such as hosting office hours for student consultation, tutoring, and timely submission of course grades. Candidates must be adaptable to evolving teaching modalities including in-person, online, and hybrid formats according to course requirements and comply with current COVID-related policies.

The college values and encourages diversity, equity, and inclusion, expecting adjunct faculty to understand and demonstrate commitment to serving learners with varied academic preparation and life experiences. MCCC offers a comprehensive benefits package for adjunct faculty including tuition waivers for employees and their families, an alternate benefit retirement program, life and disability insurance options, access to employee assistance programs, sick time accrual, and free use of campus fitness centers and pools. These benefits support employee well-being, professional growth, and work-life balance in a collaborative academic environment where faculty are integral to student success and community development.
