As one of Florida's largest healthcare providers, Lee Health operates four acute care hospitals: Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center, and Cape Coral Hospital, as well as the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Serving a diverse population with over two million patient contacts annually, Lee Health boasts a team of more than 17,000 employees and over 2,500 medical staff members including 950+ primary and specialty care providers. Known for its top 25 percent ranking among hospitals nationwide by Healthgrades America's 250 Best Hospitals, Lee Health is deeply committed to fostering a culture of respect, excellence, compassion, and education.

Within this expansive health system, the Rehabilitation Services department stands out as one of the largest and most dynamic teams in the region, comprising over 700 skilled professionals dedicated to restoring strength, mobility, and independence to patients. Their expertise spans a variety of specialized services including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation. These services are delivered across multiple care settings such as acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient clinics, allowing patients comprehensive and evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) role at Lee Health involves providing crucial screening, evaluation, treatment, and education for patients experiencing impairments related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Working within an acute care environment, this role offers full-time and PRN opportunities at various Lee Health locations in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida. Compensation ranges from $70,720 to $115,252.80 annually, depending on experience, reflecting the organization’s commitment to valuing clinical expertise.

As an SLP at Lee Health, practitioners are expected to adhere strictly to American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) standards while engaging in administration, consultation, education, research, and clinical care. The role requires strong professional behaviors such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, professionalism, effective time and resource management, and commitment to ongoing learning. Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration are emphasized, with opportunities for mentorship, student supervision, and engagement in continuing education initiatives.

Each Lee Health hospital offers a distinct clinical environment for SLPs: Cape Coral Hospital provides acute care services with strong mentorship and a comprehensive FEES competency model; Gulf Coast Medical Center, a Level II Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center, offers high-acuity clinical practice and advanced dysphagia management; HealthPark Medical Center caters to cardiothoracic, stroke, and ICU populations with robust clinical pathways; and Lee Memorial Hospital supports complex surgical populations including ENT and neurosurgery with a autonomy-oriented clinical practice model.

Lee Health also offers highly competitive benefits including up to $15,000 in sign-on and relocation incentives where eligible, exceptional medical, dental, and vision coverage, holistic well-being and mental health programs, annual CEU reimbursements with a free MedBridge subscription, and career advancement pathways. Retirement matching up to 5%, Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility, generous paid time off, flexible scheduling options, and expense-paid on-site interviews for eligible candidates further enhance the work experience.
